A High Voltage Mini-review

I just read the entirety of Karen Marie Moning’s HIGH VOLTAGE in an afternoon.

And she murdered me.

I was choked up for like half the book, and ugly cried my way through the last 100 pages. Grief, and how we get on, was once again a HUGE theme (this is an ongoing theme in the Fever series). So was love, and what we are willing to do for the ones we love. Even so far as letting them go.

Space, oddly enough, was a recurring visual motif in this novel! It really contributed to the overall beauty of the novel. (AND have us the most perfect/heartbreaking pet name ever: “Stardust”.) About a third of the way through I put on the Cosmos soundtrack? That maaaay have contributed to the feels. But it was a perfect fit.

OMG my head. That was very cathartic but now I would like a cup of tea yes thank you and nothing serious for the rest of the night.

THIS BOOK THOUGH. Honestly, this may be the crown jewel of this series. It’s everything we waited for through the last quartet (Iced, Burned, Feverborn, Feversong). If this were to be the last Fever book Moning wrote it would be a fitting end.

(Though she is setting us up for others, and I believe she’s signed for them as well. So I guess she’s not done killing me just yet.)

I’ll probably write a more comprehensive review down the road. This book wasn’t perfect (I mean is any book really?) but it really did surpass all my expectations.
