Lattes and Layers

I love learning, imagining possibilities, day dreaming and creating. I dream of traveling Europe and Canada in the fall or winter, visiting every coffee shop in Portland and Copenhagen, eating chocolate crepes and pan au chocolat, wearing layers and stripes, shopping, and reading good books. I am married to Brad, my best friend and biggest supporter. He brings so much inspiration and encouragement to my life and I enjoy pursuing life with him. I blog at http://lattesandlayers.blogspot.com

I'll just add this to my list of dream home details, especially if it uncovers an enchanting garden. 🌿 (at Carmel by the Sea)

I've been told by the locals that this overcast, and sometimes misty, weather is what summer looks like in Monterey. Let's just say that I am very excited about this! 💙 (at Monterey Old Fisherman's Wharf)

Last night we took a stroll in the cool air, ate ice cream along the water's edge, and then sampled lots of clam chowder along the pier. Ever since we arrived a few days ago, I've been craving clam chowder. 🙈 This has never been a thing before! Oh, and that little black line towards the bottom of the photo happens to be the first seal I spotted, just lounging on a rock. (at Monterey Old Fisherman's Wharf)

A 30 week baby bump from a few days ago when we were exploring the Japanese garden in Seattle. This tree was my favorite. 🌿 (at Seattle Japanese Garden)

Woke up before 6am to catch a fog-filled ferry ride to Bainbridge Island. Moody mornings are probably my favorite! (at Bainbridge Island Ferry Terminal)

My first bouquet of peonies from last week. I love the change in personality they take from when they're still closed to when they fully open up in several tissue-like layers.

Changing up that morning coffee for some blackberry sage tea, while hoping for a very productive Monday. Hope you all have a wonderful morning as well!

Overcast mornings always call for something warm, comforting, and homemade. These buttermilk biscuits with butter and honey does the trick. 😋

Yesterday's morning scene. Sadly there is no leftover banana chocolate chip bread for this morning. I still don't really crave chocolate, but it's so hard to resist eating it when it's in banana bread.

Started baking once a week, but mostly practicing how to make bread. But last night I changed it up and went for a brioche cinnamon roll pull apart bread. I love recipes that rest overnight and are ready to pop in the oven first thing in the morning. I used the recipe from @halfbakedharvest and it's really tasty!

How I like to start off the weekend! Followed by a stroll through the used book store for a few more books. (at Common Bond Cafe and Bakery)
