having a 3yo brother means i get exposed to kids’ shows way more often than i thought i would at this point in my life, but man, binge watching thomas the tank engine as an adult is a wild fucking experience

all these trains (and there’s like 20 counting locomotives alone, don’t even get me started on the anthropomorphic train cabins) are MAD competitive the whole time and will constantly fuck up their own whole day by tring to prove they’re the biggest baddest train. and like, i understand that you gotta get you plot from somewhere and i imagine plotlines like this happen in cars etc. as well, but the other day i was watching and i noticed that all these goddamn locomotives have DRIVERS in them. that apparently have no control over their train’s actions at all whatsoever. so these trains wake up, pick up their drivers, go to work, get taunted by another train who’s like “ha ha i see u there with your 4 cabins but did you know i can pull SIX cabins and still fucking book it at 80mph” and the 4 cabin train will be like “fuck it i gotta prove myself now, hook me up with 4 more cabins” and will inevitably derail themselves or some shit while the engine driver just shuts up and kicks back the whole time

i explained this to my brother and was like, is that fucked up or what, but he just pointed at the green train and went “that’s percy” so i guess that’s his take on the situation

Oliver Swindon in Aromantic flag colors! 💚🤍🖤

Since we are still in the Aromantic Spectrum Awareness week, I want to draw the Engine drivers that are part of it, one of them is Oliver!

Oliver spent years of his life identifying himself as gay, since he always fantasized with finding the right man and reading stories about men falling in love. The thing was that he never actually fell in love with anyone, he might find somebody aesthetically attractive but wasn't able to visualize a real relationship with them. Some friends from the Great Western Railway joked that he probably had too high expectations because of the books he read so he tried to believe that was the reason.

He thought he was in love with the person that saved him and his engine: Douglas McIntosh. They dated for some months. Although Oliver enjoyed Douglas's company, he felt something was wrong every time they were intimate or they were just kissing.

At the end, they both decided just to be friends.

He didn't know that this would be his first and last relationship. He felt terrible, afraid that he would never be able to find someone again. He felt... broken.

His best friend Toad didn't know how to help, it was so painful to see Oliver so sad.

One day, Oliver was working with Toad and Emily, he mentioned his struggles with relationships and she asked him if he was aroace. Since he didn't know what that meant, she explained the asexuality and aromantism terms and also that she was demiromantic herself.

That was the answer. He wasn't broken. He was just aroace.

"There is nothing wrong about being alone, Mr. Oliver", Toad told Oliver and both smiled.

Nowadays, Oliver is more than happy with his life. He might not have a partner but he's has something that wouldn't exchange for anything: Friends who love him just as the way he is 💚

I didn't make any Pride Month stuff yet but here is a drawing of Oliver with Aromantic flag colors 💖

when you know that the word woke is aave and refers to someone who's informed about systemic antiblack racism all those conservative rants about "the woke mob" are that much more transparent. whether or not they know what it actually means, the effect of misusing it in the way they do is the same. most people will end up thinking it just means "the radical left" or some other nebulous and vague anti-conservative movement, and whatever topic du jour is considered "woke" ends up completely sweeping any discussions about the antiblack systems that the us is built upon under the rug

The church dates back to the second half of the 11th century with several building campaigns until the end of the 16th century. The church includes Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance style architecture. These photos are from the western facade completed in 1516.
