I’m completely down for abolishment of the police, but I’d argue that communities can’t reliably police themselves because then you end up with gun owners shooting innocent people who go up their driveway by mistake

When a citizen guns down another citizen, regardless of purpose, there's a legal process to determine whether it was justified.
When a pig does it, there is no legal process.
One of those sounds a LOT better than the other.
And that's -before- you get into the issue of the escalation of violence. Cops are bombarded with the idea that they're constantly all the time under threat of death from every direction forever and QUICKLY escalate because of the constant traumatic stress they're under.
Civilians? Don't want to have to engage in violence except the really fucking weird gun fetishists. Everyone else is way more likely to posture, shout, argue, and walk away still breathing.
We don't need cops.

I EXPLICITLY FORBID ANYONE TO FEED MY FICS TO AI. DUDE, THAT IS ABOUT THE LEAST RESPECTFUL THING YOU CAN DO. IF YOU DO IT, SHALL YOU BE EXCOMMUNICATED FROM YOUR FANDOM AND WALK ON LEGOS BAREFOOT TILL THE END OF DAYS.

I also do not want my fics fed into AI. It doesn’t know my brain - hell, sometimes I don’t know my brain - so there is no way some AI is going to know where I’m going with a story. Human creativity and artistry can’t be replaced or duplicated. Imitation may be the greatest form of flattery, but it’s still an imitation.

Some examples:
Just goes to show how much data facebook/insta collect about you that gets sent to advertisers. Also facebook responded by effectively saying ‘yes we collect the data but we dont allow advertisers to say that they’re using this data’ after trying to accuse Signal of pulling a ‘PR stunt’. Facebook is so scummy.
Facebook claims this is a PR stunt and Signal never intended to run the ads. Signal says they did - they submitted them like you’re supposed to submit ads, and their ad account was shut off.
Facebook may wind up claiming “those are not valid ads; that info does not help you get customers.” And Signal would be very likely to claim “we damn well do believe that putting that info in our ads will get us new customers.”
Not that anyone will think, “Oh, I should use Signal because I’m into pilates/have a geology degree.” But they could think “Oh, I should use Signal because WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN Facebook sends me targeted ads based on my zodiac sign? Eww, creepy; is Signal less creepy? Time for a change.”
USAmericans: This pride month, talk to the queer people who actually live in all those bad evil icky red states and find out what it's actually like, how we actually feel about it, and who here is actively fighting against it. No more telling us to "just leave" or reducing us to innocent victims who are "trapped" here. There are so many of us and we live here for so many reasons, none of which should be justified. We are resilient, we are powerful, and we are fighting against the fascist laws working to eradicate us or scare us away. Being trans in a red state right now is in and of itself an act of resistance. That being said, pay attention to the brave souls on the front lines, pushing against the laws, making good trouble, and refusing to be silenced.

The thing that I find most embarrassing about "Crisis in masculinity" narratives is that they've been talking about it my entire life and the "solution" has always been to consume: "BUY my book! LISTEN TO my podcast! TAKE these boner pills! JOIN this gym! BUY a big fucking truck! EAT steak! DRINK whisky! COLLECT guns! GET cosmetic surgery to MAKE YOUR HEAD LOOK LIKE A BOX so bitches will want to FUCK you!"
And yet it never seems to be enough, and the reason it never seems to be enough is because there *is* no crisis of masculinity, there's a crisis of corporate media making men feel insecure so that they can sell them shit. It's absolutely no different from the cosmetics industry or the diet industry or the fashion industry doing the same to women.
