leaving this blog bc it's 6+ years old and it's time to end it's misery. I moved to magicalgirlwarrior!

the difference

when men hate women, they want to rape, hurt, control, abuse, humiliate, demean, dehumanize, and kill us

when women hate men, we want men to leave us alone, we don’t want to go near men, we don’t want to interact with them at all

misogyny is inherently a violence of destroying boundaries. women’s responding anger is a reaction to boundary violation. it is the subsequent defense of boundaries, of building them to be stronger, harder to break down

Dear young(er) people,

Maybe no one told you this before, but for f*ck’s sake, please give a TWO WEEK NOTICE when you quit, even for your crappy retail or food-service job. You’re not screwing over the company or management by quitting short notice… you’re screwing over your already overworked and underpaid coworkers who now have to pick up your scheduled shifts for the next one-two weeks because you couldn’t just wait two weeks to quit.

I’m not talking about people who have some dramatic life event that suddenly makes going to work near impossible because that’s understandable. I’m talking about a lot of young people who think it’s perfectly acceptable to just call in or even text (yes, this has actually happened) management that they’re quitting.

If you don’t like the job and think it’s not for you, let management know. Don’t just be a no call/no show then call in that you quit. That only hurts your coworkers, who probably have to change their plans last minute, find a babysitter for their kids, and cancel important appointments to cover for your inconsiderate ass.

Sincerely, An almost 30 y.o. food service manager who is fed up with this b.s.

Opening this Saturday, May 13th, 2017 at Jonathan LeVine Projects in Jersey City, New Jersey is artist João Ruas’ exemplary solo exhibition of brand new works entitled “GEIST.”

I consider João to be one of the best contemporary artists in the world as his artwork is rich with passion and beauty rarely surpassed.  Existing in a haunting, though spectacle filled dimension, Ruas’ paintings explore a depth of emotions brought forth through weaving together history, mythology (both real and invented) and symbolism via specters of enormous imaginative strength.

For “GEIST,” Ruas has found inspiration in The Phenomenology of the Spirit by G.W.F. Hegel, a philosophical text describing a three-stage dialectical life of the Spirit.  Ruas explains, “This new body of work uses modern and ancient metaphorical allegories, religious scenes and historical characters to address attempts to change the inexorable universal pendulum of creation and destruction through endless ages.”

GEIST” will be on display until June 10th, 2017.  Seek it out, travel from far, do what you must to see this one you guys.
