I’ve finally cracked my mother’s texting style. It’s an issue I’ve been dealing with for literally as long as texting was a thing but I finally understand all my mom’s weird quirks when texting.
For backstory, my mom’s texting style is unintentionally passive aggressive.
She’ll write “..” after a sentence like: “Oh wow! I hope you have a good time..”
For years I’d be like, “Why is she like this?! Did she want me to invite her?! She doesn’t even know these people! She can’t even get there!”
BUT - I have learned that two periods mean “I am interested, please tell me more later I would like to continue this discussion”.
Why she couldn’t have just said that is beyond me but I am UNDERSTANDING her so much more now when she texts
My grown mother gave me, a grown adult, a whole pineapple today.
I asked what the occasion was and she said, “I saw it and I thought of you!”
