The Gallows 10/16/16

As i shuffle though the anticipating crowd 

so very alone, yet, accompanied by god

as an audience murmurs anxiously, but

is obviously enthralled by my final march unto death

a pair of imposing shadows parade me step by impossible step

up the stained and worn oaken steps

leading me to my final stage,

this final act in my comedy.

the gallows..

One hangman has my arms

as this shadow from my peripheral yanks a black hood over my head

and the beautiful noose falls past my face

nuzzling into my neck, creating a soothing reassurance

of death and even peace 

as the rope roughly tightens into my throat-

The trap door below me doesn’t feel so severe.

maybe this precarious moment in time was always meant to be

its as if everything else in my life, has foretold this day

this is my door 

my passageway

my escape.
