Catapult Crunch:
This is one of my favorite AB exercises because It’s weighted and the movements required to complete a rep don’t allow you to cheat yourself.
- You will need a partner!
- Start by laying flat on your back with your legs raised up flexed at a little over 90 degrees. Once comfortable have your partner rest a soft toss medicine ball or regular medicine ball on your feet.
- you will also start with a soft toss or regular medicine ball in your hands with your arms fully extended out behind your head.
- When you and your partner are ready you will perform a crunch and toss the ball in your hands to your partner. once you have released the ball in your hands you will grab the one resting between your feet and continue this motion.
- Try a medicine ball weight you can do for 4 x10
Power Crunch:
- You will need a partner!
- Start by laying on your back with your legs bent in a crunch position
- Have your partner hold a medicine ball over you at a height that will force you to reach to grab it.
- When ready do a crunch reaching and grabbing the medicine ball from your partner
- once you have grabbed the medicine ball return back to your starting position with medicine ball pressed against your chest.
- After reaching starting position crunch back up throwing ball up to partner mid motion
- Repeat this with a medicine ball weight you can do 4 x 10 with.
(WO)MAN MAKERS
( we did not have an ez-curl bar so we used DBs)
- You will need a partner!
- using and ez-curl bar you and your partner will do a pyramid circuit of 10-12-15-12-10 switching off after each set is completed. your rest period will be the time it takes for your partner to complete their set.
- use a weight that challenges you!

One of the biggest problems I have when it comes to working out is continuing to challenge myself and push my body to new levels. Through this challenge I have tried just about any and everything you can to do this. The one thing that has always worked for me is incorporating competition into my workouts having someone to compete with to push you is by far the greatest motivation.
Playing football most of my life I've learned to thrive in competitive situations. I always found myself doing little things that made me push myself like working out with the lineman or linebackers and always making it a point to go against the best Receivers on our team. Things that may not seem like a big deal but ultimately improved my performance and made me a better player. And now I use this to improve my training and reach new fitness goals.
Since ending my football career I have turned to finding workout partners that don’t only push and motivate me but hold me accountable for every rep, set, and intensity of every workout. But it can be hard to find somebody who’s schedule matches with yours and is always available to workout when you are. And thats why even when me and my workout partners aren’t able to workout together will still motivate each other by sending each other text about new PRs we might have hit, posting and tagging each other in videos of our workout we just completed. Continuing to motivate each other from afar.
