Bad Ending Event-AFO Writing & Art
Starting at the beginning of February, @possiblycringe and I will be hosting a Bad Ending event featuring All for One!
Writing or drawing a bad ending can be a challenge, so this is a great event if you want to push yourself to try something different!
This event allows for 3 different types of bad ending scenarios: a bad ending(the bad guy wins) at the end of your story, the aftermath of a bad ending, or nobody wins. You could even mash 2 or 3 of them together if you so choose!
Requirements
- At least 1k word requirement for writers
- Artists can do anything as long as it sticks with the bad ending theme and features AFO
- MUST include AFO! However, including Yoichi, DFO(Dad for One), or other characters is acceptable as well as whatever world or setting you want. I.E. Real world/No Quirks, fantasy, sci-fi, historical, etc. All AUs are welcome!
- Horror and gore are perfectly fine for writers and artists. Obviously, NO NSFW(you know what I mean!)

For those that may need examples, here are three of my works that represent each acceptable “bad ending”
- COLD—example of a nobody wins bad ending. Horror
- Alternatives chapters 2-3 & chapter 5 epilogue featuring the bad ending of a Mafia AU
- Alternatives chapters 3-4 & chapter 5 epilogue featuring the aftermath of a bad ending where fat!AFO has already become Emperor of the world.
The official start date will be announced here and in Discord servers I’m in like Silver’s Vault come the end of January.
This is going to be a nice challenge for a lot of you and we’re both so excited to see how yall decide to torture the characters…and probably feed the glutton that is AFO 😉
Fanfiction Authors: HEADS UP
(Non-authors, please RB to signal boost to your author friends!)
An astute reader informed me this morning that one of my fics (Children of the Future Age) had been pirated and was being sold as a novel on Amazon:
(And they weren't even creative with their cover design. If you're going to pirate something that I spent a full year of my life writing, at least give me a pretty screenshot to brag about later. Seriously.)
I promptly filed a DMCA complaint to have it removed, but I checked out the company that put it up -- Plush Books -- and it looks like A LOT of their books are pirated fic. They are by no means the only ones doing this, either -- the fact that """publishers""" can download stories from AO3 in ebook format and then reupload them to Amazon in just a few clicks makes fic piracy a common problem. There are a whole host of reasons why letting this continue is bad -- including actual legal risk to fanfiction archives -- but basically:
IF YOU ARE A FANFIC AUTHOR WITH LONG AND/OR POPULAR WORKS, PLEASE CHECK AMAZON TO SEE IF YOUR STORIES HAVE BEEN PIRATED.
You can search for your fics by title, or by text from the description (which is often just copied wholesale from AO3 as well). If you find that someone has stolen your work and is selling it as their own, you can lodge a DMCA complaint (Amazon.com/USA site; other countries have different systems). If you haven't done this before, it's easy! Here's a tutorial:
HOW TO FILE A COPYRIGHT COMPLAINT FOR STOLEN WORK ON AMAZON.COM:
First, go to this form. You'll need to be signed into your Amazon account.
- Select the radio buttons/dropdown options (shown below) to indicate that you are the legal Rights Owner, you have a copyright concern, and it is about a pirated product.
- Enter the name of your story in the Name of Brand field.
- In the Link to the Copyrighted Work box, enter a link to the story on AO3 or whatever site your work is posted on.
- In the Additional Information box, explain that you are the author of the work and it is being sold without your permission. That's all you really need. If you want, you can include additional information that might be helpful in establishing the validity of your claim, but you don't have to go into great detail. You can simply write something like this:
I am the author of this work, which is being sold by [publisher] without my permission. I originally published this story in [date/year] on [name of site], and have provided a link to the original above. On request, I can provide documentation proving that I am the owner of the account that originally posted this story.
- In the ASIN/ISBN-10 field, copy and paste the ID number from the pirated copy's URL. You'll find this ten-digit number in the Amazon URL after the word "product," as in the screenshot below. (If the URL extends beyond this number, you can ignore everything from the question mark on.) Once this number has been added, Amazon will pull the product information automatically and add it to the complaint form, so you can check the listing title and make sure it's correct.
- Finally, add your contact information to the relevant fields, check the "I have read and accept the statements" box, and then click Submit. You should receive an email confirmation that Amazon has received the form.
Please share this information with your writer friends, keep an eye out for/report pirated works, and help us keep fanfiction free and legally protected!

The absolute fucking disrespect to fanfic authors is atrocious.
Art piracy from fanartists is horrible, but the amount of piracy of fanfic writers that goes unnoticed is chilling. Its not enough that people steal other's fanfics to claim as their own, but people also sell FANfiction that people lovingly write as priced novels?? Disgusting.
I know this is just a silly sideblog for fanart, but just as a great enjoyer of fanfics and appreciator of fanfic writers in general, this is too important for me to not bring attention to.
Take care of yourself and your works Authors! And non-writers, protect your favorite Author friends!!!!

A mythological AU with afohiko, please.
Oh boy, ok so
1- AfO and his brother are the two sons of Earth. AfO is a god of caves, of hidden aquifers and magma flow. He is deep and dark and dangerous, holding precious metals, beautiful gems, and great mysteries. Yoichi is a god of mountains, of stretching tower karst and exposed canyon strata. When the brothers fight, volcanoes erupt. On occasion their mother is unhappy with one or both of them, and there are earthquakes.
2- Yoichi marries deities of the sun and moon, which seem to rise from his mountain home each day or night. AfO is not jealous, he claims. No one believes him. He seeths, watching their mother gift the grooms life - beautiful plants to adorn Yoichi, humans to build things by sunlight, and animals to prowl in the night.
3- AfO watches the effects of this. He begins to hold not only treasure, but bones- death, of both humans and animals. Tree roots dig down, leaving ways for life and decay to follow. He sees humans sprout up, and other gods as well. There's a set of four he particularly hates- the spirits of the wind. Nana, a warm sea breeze moving clouds, Inko, a tiny breeze plucking grass, Diagoro, an icy blast of storm, and Sorahiko, a strong and stark gust that appears and sudden as he vanishes.
4- AfO hates them all, but right now they're to strong for him to do anything to them directly. So instead, he begins to poison the sea, oil and leads dirtying the water he brushes up against. The sea begins to slow, lethargic. It becomes colder. There's less for Nana to stir up. Then, AfO manipulates his brother in law, the sun, into burning brighter and stronger with goads that he can't, and thus, AfO will take Yoichi back soon. This burns away the clouds, and leaves Nana even weaker.
5- Sorahiko knows this is his doing, he's felt his gaze on him and his friends before. He can try to cover the damage, keep ships on course against the unmoving waves, convince the sun to calm down, but he's- he's not very good at that. And he's selfish. So instead, he marches down to meet with AfO himself, bargaining for him to stop and let Nana heal, live her happy life.
AfO is... Interested. He hadn't expected this. He agrees, in exchange for a favor, that AfO could call on at any time. Sorahiko agreed, with the stipulation that he would never harm Nana or the other wind spirits. AfO nods, and Nana recovers, slowly.
AfO doesn't use his favor as he keeps watching Sorahiko, meeting with him alone. Slowly deciding what he wants. And then, Nana marries a human, and has a son. AfO mocks this weakness. Sorahiko defends his friend and her happiness. AfO considers this, and asks Sorahiko to marry him. Sorahiko says a lifetime commitment is not a single favor. AfO agrees- then says for his actual favor, he wants Nana's son.

- This was the future that Nighteye saw: All Might wasn’t supposed to survive that first fight with Demons For One, lord of all demons. In his desperation to erode the rock-solid future, Nighteye sought for someone powerful enough to help him. The demon prince Izuku found him instead, already willing to assist.
- After checking that it wasn’t a set-up, Nighteye agreed to let Izuku help. (Izuku wanted to topple his own father.) To gain enough power to change fate, Nighteye made a deal that will give All Might strength to survive and win the battle. In return, Nighteye will have to sacrifice his entire All Might collection, all past and future merch, to Izuku. Which is painful, but worth it to save All Might’s life.
- It costed Izuku much of his own energy, but it works. Even though All Might had sustained a severe injury, Nighteye was only too thankful that the man’s death was averted. Worried for All Might’s health, he advised him to find a successor to transfer One For All to. Much to his shock and feelings of betrayal, All Might refused to heed his advice.
- Angry that he’s sacrificed so much to keep the future bright and hopeful, yet was repaid with rejection, Nighteye sought Izuku again, his trust having been fully gained by the demon prince.
- “I want All Might’s One For All quirk to be transferred to a worthy successor of my own choosing, namely Mirio Togata,” Nighteye carefully says his terms.
- “Of course,” says Izuku, eyes sparking green. “Therefore, this deal entails you asking to have temporary ownership of One For All, correct? For the Quirk’s own terms of transfer to work?”
- “Yes,” Nighteye agrees. “What do you want in return?”
- “Don’t worry about it,” Izuku says. “The hefty price from your previous deal carries over.” He flashed a kindly smile. “After all, you have plenty of future All Might merchandise that I will come to own instead. And that future… You have sold to me in abundance.”
- Oblivious to the fact that the demon prince counted One For All as part of the future All Might merch, Nighteye shook Izuku’s hand.
Thinking about Stoick and Valka right now, and oh my god.
Their part in the second movie is one of my favorite parts of that movie (or the movies in general), and I wanna kinda talk about it a little bit.
First of all,,, the colors and framing of these shots are literally so gorgeous I am obsessed

This whole scene is so good. I think it also says a lot about Stoick’s character and how much he’s changed.
In the first movie, Stoick is angry and prideful. We see how he responds to feeling betrayed by Hiccup in a very similar situation to how Valka might be considered to have ‘betrayed’ him.
Hiccup kept the secret about the dragon’s nest from Stoick, and in a sense, ‘sided with’ the dragons ‘against’ Stoick. And Stoick is livid. He throws him to the floor when Hiccup tries to stop him from leaving, tells him that he isn’t his son, and leaves to do the very thing Hiccup was begging him not to do.
Now the situation with Valka is not the same thing. But she left him and Hiccup, and she stayed away. She picked the dragons. (Now that Stoick had a positive view of dragons, this certainly impacts how he reacts to this, but still).
In the face of all of this, rather than getting angry with her (which I would argue that he has a right to do to some extent), he approaches her softly and barely manages to whisper
“you’re as beautiful as the day I lost you”
I’m sure that if Stoick had lived beyond the second movie, there would have been problems down the line for them. Stoick would have had to address his feelings of betrayal and abandonment, and it wouldn’t be completely smooth sailing.
But given Stoick’s immediate reaction here, I think that they would have come out of it fine.
This and the fact that Stoick wants her back with him and Hiccup regardless of what she did, he kisses her, he tries to sing their song together to see if she still feels the same way, he asks her to come back to Berk and be a family with him and Hiccup again, he forgives her.
Even Valka expects anger and bitterness, but Stoick is not the same man that he was before, and he reaches out to her with love and forgiveness and I just think that whole scene is beautiful.
I was well aware of the original villain plans of HTTYD2 (making Valka the villain) and tbh I wasn't mad they changed them to introduce Drago, but I didn't know they had actually made some footage of that storyline and IT LOOKS AMAZING. I mean not visually, as they are drafts, but the scene is so intense; the dialogues, the confrontation, THE MUSIC (bless you, John Powell, even though the music piece wasn't intended for that scene it still sounds amazing). Ooooh I would have loved to see it on screen.

Did you know that there’s a deleted scene of the third movie where Hiccup as a small child finds an injured bird? When Stoick tells him it’s best to kill it to end its suffering Hivcup begs him not to because he sees himself in that bird, saying “he’s little like me”.
So Stoick gives the bird a brace on the wing and tells hiccup that now it’s his responsibility, he had to care for it, keep it warm, feed it…and when the time comes, set it free. Hiccup promised him he’d do that…
He cared for toothless…kept him warm and fed him, truly loved him…but when the time came he set him free, because as Valka said in yet another deleted scene “there’s a fine line between a protector and a captor…”
I would’ve loved to see Valka’s expression under the mask when she was flying Cloudjumper, and suddenly hears a scream above the clouds, the confusion! And she shock when she saw that indeed it was a man flying a dragon

EXCUSE ME?!
Valka was supposed to be the VILLAIN?!
Hiccup and Valka’s reunion was supposed to be the same, except that Valka actually DESPISES humans at this point and wants to keep them away from the dragons, and she went CRAZY when she found out Hiccup had hurt Toothless!
Oh and SHE controls the bewilderbeast and uses it on Hiccup’s friends!

Ever since getting into spy x family, I can't stop thinking about Anya being kidnapped by the scientists who experimented on her. While I don't think it'll happen, I do think it'll make for a very fun au. What do you think?
I think two things could happen in such AU.
- Loid and Yor go full Mama and Papa Bear and destroy everything and everyone on their path to find their daughter again. What Yor did on the cruise would be a field trip compared to the length she is willing to go to find Anya and Loid is no slouch either. This would also be an excellent way to have them realize each other’s true identity.
- What would be my favorite scenario: Loid and Yor realizing that they have no idea where to find Yor and immediately summoning the big guns. I want Loid to call the handler and to ask for the help of every Wise agents because someone essential to Operation Strix was abducted only for Handler to make the spy equivalent of grabbing her coat because the hand of the sentence. And I want Yor to receive a call from her boss right at this moment only for her to growl a “THEY KIDNAPPED MY DAUGHTER.” and for all of the assassins in her organization to show up because 1. their coworker’s child was kidnapped and it’s a dick move (they are assassins but they have standards, thank you very much) 2. they know that if they don’t hurry to find Anya, the Thorn Princess will have no qualms about drowning the country in blood.
What if they didn’t realize each other’s identity?
What if Loid led an army of spies in one way while Yor led a pack of assassins in the other. They meet in the middle and Loid explains these are his fellow psychologists and many of them did a few years in the army so they know how to shoot guns and Yor says these are her friends and some tailors who also took self defense classes.
And you forget about Yuri. Okay he doesn’t care about Anya and is jealous of Loid as hell, but the disappearance of his pseudo niece will put his sister on edge and we all know how crazy Yuri is when it comes to his sister. This craziness would allow him to rally his coworkers and so we would probably have the entire secret police joining in on the whole mess.
The scientists will have no idea in which hell they got themselves into, and Anya will probably have the best 48 hours of her life.
