watching that ex-Reddit guy discover the difference between fandom as collection/curation of canon knowledge vs. fandom as interpretation/transformation of canon themes in real time sure is a thing
going from the reddit star wars fandom to the tumblr star wars fandom is giving me insane whiplash. the upside is that people aren’t bitching about every single imperfect detail in the entire franchise, but the downside is that i’ve seen more fanart of obi wan and commander cody tenderly knowing each other than i have ever wanted to in my life in the last three hours and it has probably fundamentally altered the way i interact with the entire franchise

leetle bit of the standard ludonarrative dissonance with the whole "damage enemies to regain Force energy" thing lmao but it's probably just a soulslike standard to not have any resources that regenerate over time
I think my favorite handling of that contradiction in a game is Mysteries of the Sith where they were straight-up like "fuck you the canon ending for Jedi Knight is light side and if you murder randos your Force energy gets completely depleted," and of course KoToR2 with "oh ha ha didn't you wonder why you kept getting stronger in the Force for every person you killed? it's because you're a monster so twisted by your war crimes that you can only feed off of death"
