Ekhart Tolle : Theory of the Present

The Primary Rule to Knowing your Purpose is this:::: be in the now, the right now, not even seconds in the future or the past,,, but right now.

For instance, a glass that you’re going to drink water from: be in every single moment: the reaching for the glass, the feel of the grasp, the pull towards your mouth, the pour, the release, feeling the water going down your throat, reaching out to put the glass down, placing the glass down, bringing your hand back to wherever it was…

That’s it,,and nothing out of order, but just very moment. Too often are we reaching for the glass and wishing that we were already drinking it, as we’re drinking it, wishing it was already in our stomachs, while putting the glass down, wishing it was already placed down… These things are not the present. So be in the present, be in the now. Feel every moment, and that is your Primary Purpose. That’s it. Just that.

All things else will fall into place.

10 things to start doing for yourself to feel better.

1. Get into a routine.

Wake up the same time every morning, eat breakfast, brush your teeth, go on a walk.

2. Set approachable goals.

Even if it’s just not to lay in bed all day, or to go to the grocery store, set goals you can accomplish.

3. Exercise.

You don’t have to run a marathon. A few walks every week can make a huge difference.

4. Eat different.

Don’t go with the same bread all week. Hormones in our brain gives us endorphins when we taste and try something new.

5. Get enough sleep.

If you only sleep two hours now, try with three. Go to bed earlier, and lay and stare at your roof for hours if you have to. At some point, your body will stop fighting, and it will let you sleep.

6. Don’t drop everything you have.

Sometimes it’s good for us to clean our house, or room. Maybe dust that old shelf you have thought about a million times. You will feel better afterwards.

7. Fight your demons.

It sounds hard, and it is. But start off by thinking in a different direction. Do you really think that old lady at the bus station hated you because you looked angry? Or do you think you teachers go home after work and think about your grades?  Probably not. Remember that your mind is your biggest enemy.

8. Do things you love.

Don’t you think anything is funny anymore? It’s just your brain fooling you. You need to let go and do the things that you are afraid of doing. Do you love to draw? Then draw! You will thank yourself later.

9. Remember that you are important.

People usually think that they don’t matter. But you actually do. You matter to me, and you probably know someone that you matter to. A sister, a brother, a parent, a lover or a friend. Someone out there really cares for you, and you just need to let yourself accept that and understand it.

10. Read more.

Magazines, books.. Read as much as you can. Reading makes your brain develop special hormones that makes you happier.

Salute to the enduring spirit of the children of the slaves…

A lot of the men and women that had to endure this are still alive. Don’t let white people act like this is the distant past. It’s not.

American history. American present.

Never forget

I didn’t want to reblog this because of how uncomfortable it made me feel and then I realized, that’s the exact reason I need to reblog it.

Look at these images, America. Look at them. This is your history. This is one of the things that has made you what you are. Do you know what these are from? Have you ever heard of the Detroit Race Riot of ‘43? Do you know about the Deacons of Defense? Can you imagine the kind of “crimes” that could necessitate beatings like the ones viewed here? Crimes like: being involved with a white woman. Being suspected of being involved with a white woman. Trying to vote. Using a white’s only bathroom. Integrating schools or churches or anything else.

Look at these images. This is your story and mine. This isn’t the distant past! This isn’t some kind of ancient history that we can gloss over. People who participated in these events—on either side—are still alive today. Their children and grandchildren may be reading this right now.

Look at them, damn you! Study them. Think about how they make you feel. How it must have felt for the victims. For their families. Put yourself back there. Imagine this. Picture living with this kind of fear.

Look at these images.

To the anon who told me I should respect my troops because they fought for my rights take a look at the dude wearing the US Army sweatshirt. Cute right?

Second session ending in tears within a week. The first time I held back, the second time I just let them roll down my face, without a care in the world as by the end we’re so tired and sweaty nobody notices anyway, but I get the frustration out of my system. Kendo has always been like this for...
