As Dracula Daily has been so much fun, people are asking about the possibility of Dailies for other classic novels, including Phantom of the Opera. It wouldn’t be easy to have a “Phantom Daily” as there are few dates and the events of the novel are revealed out of order. But because Phantom was originally written as a serial, the chapters could be read on the days they were originally published in Le Gaulois in 1909. These are readily available in both French and Spanish, which has the added bonus of a series of beautiful illustrations by Arcadio Mas y Fondevila. A full translation of Le Gaulois chapters into English has not yet been made public. The text from the serial is not exactly the same as what went on to become the novel - there is even a full chapter missing.

It would be fun to read this story as a huge group, the way people are reading Dracula now. To do it in English would be a challenge, though not impossible.

These illustrations are so boss
