Me on Fourth of July like

Anyway, stop spreading white nationalist rhetoric and toxic nationalism thanks

Nobody said anything about race. Stop that.

It’s nationalist to state facts now?

How is this toxic?

Show me countries better than the USA.

income equality (america was among the worst)

gender equality

what exactly makes america the “best country” here? america doesn’t excel in anything.

I was gonna say aren’t we like #1 in a bunch of bad stats? Like aren’t we the top for rape and abuse?

I remember this epic moment from The Newsroom

Americans just buy into the propaganda they are the greatest country when there is absolutely zero evidence to say so.

The Golden Blades

Not a free company, but my own group of adventurer characters who operate out of Kugane.

Vallerin Coultenet: Wildwood Elezen Dragoon

Brown hair, ice blue eyes. He seems to go out of his way to come across as cold as Ishgard itself, but he actually does care about people–he’s just awkward about showing it, and forgets that his deliberate aloofness harms others as much as it protects him. He and his lance form the backbone of the company; what he lacks in charm, he makes up for in loyalty and strength.

H’aladrin Tia: Seeker of the Sun Miqo’te Samurai

Red hair, green eyes, and a great deal of freckles on his fair skin. If Vallerin is the backbone of the company, H’aladrin is the heart–energetic and quick to smile, he puts others first always. He was (some say still is) a bard, a class well-suited to his personality. Though he hasn’t lost his talent for song, he has been losing the sight in one eye for some time, and can no longer wield a bow as he once did. He has taken up the sword and devoted himself to learning the way of the samurai instead. Though he may seem on the surface light-hearted and impulsive, he is more serious than he seems–and he’s proved that he can think quickly in combat.

Tahla Bajhiri: Keeper of the Moon Miqo’te Ninja

Dark skin and even darker hair, with one silver eye and one gold. Tahla is the brains of the group, the ninja’s mind as keen as her blades. Little escapes her observation, and she has an eye for weakness. She can be counted on to come up with a winning strategy, even with relatively little time to prepare. She turns her skills of observation toward the group as well–her tongue every bit as sharp when it comes to calling Vallerin out on the real issues behind his sour mood, or exposing the lie behind H’aladrin’s cheerful facade. She is fairly protective of them both, at times…and at others, she will gladly put them in their place.

Hahaku Haku: Dunesfolk Lalafell Thaumaturge

Brown hair showing signs of grey, dark pink eyes. Hahaku’s role is less poetic, but every bit as necessary. The aging Ul’dahn merchant finances the group (expecting a sizable return on her investment of course). She seldom goes adventuring herself, but occasionally Tahla manages to convince her that her skills as a thaumaturge are required for a particular mission. She tries to distance herself emotionally from the others, to see them as mere investments or commodities–but this owes more to trying to keep her more cutthroat business rivals from using them as leverage. In truth, she is quite fond of them all, and has ensured that should she die, they will each receive a respectable inheritance.

The Raivenn half of kuer-and-raiv has been busy in FFXIV! My characters are all on Zalera, and I'm hoping to start RPing them soon :)

people in fanfiction are so good at identifying v specific smells. I literally struggle to identify vanilla when I’m sniffing a candle labelled “VANILLA” how are these kids getting woodsmoke, rain, mint, and a whiff of byronic despair from a fuckin tshirt

Once I read a fic where they were like “he tasted like” and I’m expecting the typical formula (1 cooking ingredient + 1 natural phenomenon + “something uniquely [character name]”) but instead they said “he tasted like mouth” and it was one of the greatest fic moments of my life

click and drag to find out what your shitty fanfiction kiss tastes like

Reblogging for the game, but also…

Identifying and working with scents is a learned skill, in the same vein as learning colour theory or learning to play music by ear. You may not know how to identify that exact chord or what else would sound good with it, but the person playing it probably does!

Vanilla, to use the example in the OP, is an extremely common note in perfumery. I have a pretty good-sized collection from Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, and vanilla or a derivative of vanilla is in 60 of them. A person acquainted with perfumery or baking is going to know the scent of vanilla anywhere, because it’s something that shows up in just about everything

Musks are in 55 of my scents, but they are not all the same, unlike vanilla, which doesn’t vary a whole lot! Because different kinds of musks can be used in a myriad of ways, someone with a trained nose can usually differentiate between black musk, red musk, brown musk, and white musk, and if they’re dedicated to a certain perfumer, they’ll be able to recognise that perfumer’s more unique/proprietary musks–in BPAL’s case, blue, indigo, crystalline, green, and blood musks show up just enough that they’re recognizable once you’ve figured out what they are.

That being said, most kisses don’t taste that great. The emotional experience is what I think the writer is trying to convey…or they just haven’t kissed that many people that often. idk

Mint hurricane passion.

Sounds more like a magical girl transformation/ability than a kiss, to be honest.

Let’s talk about the astounding similarities between cats and autistic people, and how we should make them the official autism mascot instead of that godawful puzzle piece

Oh man, now you’ve got me going!

Firstly, cats stim. They purr, swish their tails and knead their paws against pillows, blankets, and other soft things. Many cats actively seek out sensory experiences, like listening to birds singing, lying in a sunbeam, rolling against the grass, etc.

Cats have sensory sensitivities— many of them dislike walking on certain flooring, touching certain textures, and certain smells or sounds may make them anxious. Their fur is very sensitive, they can sense the lightest touch, or speck of lint, or dust and their skin will quiver until they can lick or rub it off. When they become overstimulated cats retreat into a small, dark place to recover.

Cats love routine. Many cats know the exact time that their owners wake up in the morning and will wake them. A cat with a routine is a happy cat— they love to have their meals or soft food on a schedule and will learn their owner’s schedule. Cats will become anxious when the schedule is disrupted or if their owner doesn’t follow their usual routine.

In the same vein cats are very wary and/or anxious when it comes to the introduction of new things or people into their environment. Cats require time and patience to get used to anything or anyone newly introduced. Cats also feel anxious when existing furniture is rearranged or when a new smell (like an air freshener) is introduced into the home.

Cats often have “special interests”, a particular activity or thing that they love and can spend hours enjoying. It could be playing with a particular toy, chewing on something, listening to the radio, or watching the clothes in the washing machine. My cat Kitty has a certain ball that she fixates on and will happily enjoy and obsess over for hours.

Finally, cats have a very distinct and subtle body language. The difference is particularly evident when compared with the exuberant, unsubtle dog. The slightest twitch of a tail or turn of the ears, the frequency and timing of blinks, and the positioning of the tail in relation to the body are all little movements that can express much. To the untrained eye it may appear as if a cat is bored, aloof, or unaware of its surroundings. But once you learn to recognize cat body language and understand cat communication, you’ll be amazed at the depth of emotion and how expressive your cat really is.

Yes, I think that cats have a lot in common with autistic people. And that’s wonderful!

also can I add to this:

cats like to show their affection just by sharing the same space. a cat will generally want to be in the same space as you, even if you’re not really interacting and are half way across the room. still hanging out!

they don’t always want to be touched, and can be easily overstimulated by physical affection.

they don’t like to make eye contact.

their body language is often misinterpreted- and then they are blamed for it, or have negative motivations ascribed to it. a cat following you around is stalking you instead of wanting to hang out. a cat that doesn’t want to make eye contact with you is ignoring you instead of being polite. a cat that lashes out because it’s over stimulated, or you ignored their body language telling you to leave them alone is suddenly an asshole who hurt you for no reason.

I had this book as a child and I’m glad to see the comparison is so widely recognized too

I KEEP SAYING ALL CATS ARE AUTISTIC IM SO HAPPY THIS POST EXISTS PLEASE SOMEONE ARTISTIC MAKE A CAT WITH THE NEURODIVERGENT SYMBOL ON IT FOR AUTISM MASCOT :D

Her name is hope, her breed is highlander and she’s precious.

[Image: A very cute digital illustration of a small bipedal cat person in a cartoon style. She is light gray with darker gray stripes, and lighter areas of colour on her tummy, paws, face, and upright ears. She has gold amber eyes and is looking to the right and smiling. She is standing with her arms out at her sides and is wearing an off-the-shoulder short sleeved shirt with a rainbow neurodiversity/autism mobius on the front. Rainbow text credits the image to @DimensionFiend]

I’ve always compared myself to a cat. I very much prefer to approach people on my terms, and then just as abruptly need to be alone again. The number of times I’ve called my husband in to the bedroom to show him something on my computer and then immediately become agitated and irritable afterward like okay, I showed you the thing, you can go away now...

I can hear “Hey… HEY! HEY!!!!!” being yelled outside downtown by the beach at 6:55am and to be truthful I really am not sure if it is a person or if it is a goat.

All I can think of is this video.

Reblog this if other RPers have permission to put your muses into their RP/stories as minor characters.

This means putting them as background characters. Anything from seeing your muse passing on a street to mentioning your muse as a non-essential in their story.

I have mixed feelings about this.

On the one hand, it is very nice when done well! I love feeling like Illapa is part of a living world.

On the other hand, this has also led to some of the most grossly hilarious mischaracterizations of Illapa ever written, such as:

  • Illapa mind controlling an orc to walk around clucking like a chicken.
  • Illapa cuddling a core hound puppy.
  • “Mages…so careless with the spells. All the offense, yet no defense. Your father would be most displeased my good friend,” the Priest said with a grin upon his face.
  • Illapa scoffing as someone kneels to him.
  • Illapa letting someone touch him.
  • Illapa hugging someone.

And this was all in one piece of writing.

I’m all about integrating Illapa into a greater world and having him be a small part of other characters’ lives, but I’d like to be informed first if he’s to have any significant role or relationships to other characters.

You should post the whole RAGNACORE story, imo.

OMG I remember that, lol.

Completely unrelated,  but I wanted to show you these robots. Yes, these are not fish, these are robots - the future is now.  Not to mention that they’re moving apparently randomly through a three-dimensional space, and not touching each other! That’s impressive.

Welp, nobody else did it, so it fell to me to draw @illapa-greybane as a nerd with a sippy cup and an a fluffy green robe. Note the #2 nerd pencil and the upturned pinky finger… because Illapa is fancy.

I can’t decide what I like best about this. Is it the messy manbun? The tentacle sticker on his desk? The bathrobe which, without reference, is somehow the exact same obnoxious green as my own? The pinky finger?

This is so adorkable and hilarious and is already dear to my heart. Thank you for making this, @i-do-a-stuff <3

dear young creative people,

please don’t post your concepts on here unless you intend for them to become free domain.

if you’re an artist or a writer and you think out loud like “what if there was a story where [original concept] happened?” somebody will take it and write it for you. somebody will draw it. somebody might make a kickstarter and get it funded without ever crediting you. if that’s your intent, that’s great. but really, don’t post your ideas if you want to be the one to make them happen

way too often i’ve seen someone start musing about a concept and then 10 replies later someone has drawn art and developed a novel around it, without the OP ever saying they could. hell, movies are being made off of tumblr posts at this point.

so 1) if you’re a creator and want your ideas to stay your own, be cautious! it might be tempting to get the immediate validation, but i promise you it’ll be more rewarding to see your own idea to fruition than to get 50-100k notes of people who borrow your thoughts and forget you were ever the source.

and 2) if you see someone throwing their ideas around, don’t write/draw/expand on them until you’ve been given permission.

Cannot stress this enough!! I’ve had a few fun ideas about Vampires, thinking I’d never use them. literally over 1 million notes combined later, comic, fanfics, and short stories, I’m sitting here actually writing a book of Vampire short stories, and I’m like! I hope I beat all those people to actually publishing something, because it was MY idea. Whoops!!!

and then you have buzzfeed and facebook out there yanking our text posts without credit, so our ideas are getting spread much further than our cultivated blogging platforms. smfh!

if it’s too late and an idea/phrase of yours is going viral, spend $10 and buy a domain before someone else does. use the domain to redirect to your original post and include your contact info for licensing/hiring purposes.

also watermark your videos/photos with your twitter handle or website domain. if someone rips your clip & it goes viral you want people to know where to find you.
