Snow leopards seem to treat gravity with a certain amount of disdain, but this is ridiculous.

"Their tops are made out of rubber, their bottoms are made out of springs."

Most of the rest has to be airbags, a high-tensile steel chassis and armour plate.

I will never again think that shopping for dinner is a chore.

when I was younger I had an urban fantasy universe where religious symbols repelled vampires on a “faith of the weilder” basis; but also, it was a magic universe where magic sigils and circles and amulets were how you channel ambient magic in the universe to focus and direct it and do what you want, and religious symbols operated in a similar manner. Faith was required to actually give the religious symbol any power to repel vampires, but also, the more distinct and intricate the symbol was, the better it was able to concentrate and direct that faith power. A Star of David is good, and a hamsa is great; a crucifix works well but a plain cross is useless.

Partially this was born of my frustration with the use of crosses on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but also I think partially it was me sticking it to the Protestants.

Say what you want about the 2023 Shakespeare in The Park production of Hamlet, but the choices made in that play WORKED. Having Hamlet wear a black hoodie and camo pants and him dramatically putting his hood up when he was pissed off was inspired. Having Horatio video tape Claudius on an iPhone camera from the side of the stage during the play within the play was hilarious. Having the play within the play be a hip hop dance number that represented the murder!?! Fantastic. Having Ophelia be a singer before she went mad and having a beautiful voice that everyone loved to listen to and then seeing her singing get worse and worse as she got nearer to death?!?! Hamlet pulling out his iphone after killing Polonius to show his mom a picture of his dad compared to a picture of Claudius and angrily swiping back and forth between the two as he said “What judgement would step from this… to this?” The crowd fucking lost it every time. Horatio singing to Hamlet as he died made me fully sob every time. The way they did the ghost on stage was so chilling and I can’t even accurately describe it, you just had to be there. Hamlet being deeply exasperated the entire time was just perfect. Hamlet and Horatio had a secret handshake. Laertes inexplicably carried an acoustic guitar case for much of the play which was very funny but also hit you with the heartbreaking implication that he had used to play while Ophelia sang and he stopped carrying it after she died. It was peak teenage-angst-hamlet and it was so dear to me. PLEASE if anyone has a recording, send it to me.

OMG EVERYBODY LISTEN UP!!!

THEY'RE GOING TO BROADCAST THIS PRODUCTION ON PBC FOR FREE!! YOU CAN WATCH IT!! PLEASE DO!!!

people say folks with adhd struggle with "delayed rewards" aka long term goals and as such we tend to focus more on short term rewards. what they don't talk about is that at when we Do accomplish long term goals we don't actually feel anything proportionate to the amount of work we did to achieve it. In my head I suffered for a while and then money spontaneously appeared in my bank account.

THIS. I recently turned in an outline and then a book that had TORTURED me for months. When I did, a friend was like: OMG you must be so excited! You did the thing!

But I was not. I felt slightly relieved that the task was done. There were still more tasks waiting for me. I rarely get the rush of excitement in reaching a goal.

There is a reason that there has been such a concerted effort to remove queer people from their history. Queer history, in its nature, is empowering. It debunks the belief that queerness is unnatural. It reminds queer people that their legacy is that of change, revolution, and beauty. It challenges every defended belief about history being a story of cisgender straight white men doing brave things while the rest of us sat at the sidelines. There is a reason that so many people are so scared of queer people having access to their history.

Just a reminder that adult self diagnosis of autism is completely valid; the tests are not geared toward adults and miss plenty anyway. For more, may I suggest Eric M Garcia’s WE’RE NOT BROKEN or Steve Silberman’s NEUROTRIBES.

You know yourself pretty dang well and that counts.

I need a new ringtone. I didn't have anything specific in mind, so I went to the search engines for help. I typed in Ringtone and then the letter U and my predictive keyboard was like:

Unhinged

And I'm like: What? Why would it think the most likely next word would be that? Who the heck wants an unhinged ringtone?

And then I realized: I might be who the heck!

However, I now have a problem. What exactly constitutes a "ringtone unhinged"? What genre of music is it? Does it even involve music?

So, Tumblr, help me out and reblog this with what you think an unhinged ringtone is or should be.

Y'all. There are not enough unhinged responses here. How am I supposed to ringtone?

An extraordinary Acheulean handaxe knapped around a fossil shell circa 500,000-300,000 years ago.

The maker appears to have deliberately flaked around the shell to preserve and place it in a central position. As a result this handaxe has been described as an early example of artistic thought.

Half a million years ago. Whoa

i saw this bad boy in person

It's incredible

It was made by HOMO ERECTUS you guys

Like. We were making art before we were "human" in the generally accepted sense

It was almost certainly sacred then. And when you are close to it, it feels super sacred now

REBLOG.

FOREVER.

This is an actual Therapist Recommended method for dealing with a runaway “inner critic” and this comic is perfect ❤️

Y'all about to have me out here drawing my inner critic so I can visualize, then insult it.

I can’t draw! What are you doing to me!

@ktempestbradford Are you sure you can’t draw, or is that just your inner critic telling you that?

on the one hand, extremely funny to get told “get help” by a fortune cookie, on the other, i can’t believe betterhelp has breached influencers and podcasters and started getting fortune cookies to shill for them

We're in actual hell at this point.

Smoking cigarettes as rebellion should be right wing coded. It does absolutely nothing except harm you and people around you (secondhand smoke is real!) and the only reason to do it is because some authority told you not to. Like not wearing a seatbelt.
