transmeds never can understand the invisibility of black trans people. ever in their life.

when you are black and trans, no one believes you, no matter your identity or type of transition, the white trans community seems to think that black people being trans isnt real.

a transmeds view on what is means to be a man or a woman is 100% white. down to the personality, clothes, and culture. for them what is "cis passing" is all based on a white cis man or woman. it is one of many reasons why their mentality is harmful, it serves white supremacy.

Holy shit this entire post is something that I wish countless white folks (especially white trans folks) understood.

Also the part about "cis passing" being based on cis white men and women is so true because Black features are constantly masculinized and associated with masculinity, often times to degrade Black people (especially Black women).

people are so much more obsessed with feeling like or being told that they are a good person than actually having any ethical fortitude whatsoever, so they find it completely impossible--when a fault is pointed out to them--to go, "oh, i hadn't thought about that. my bad." which would often be literally all that's reasonably expected.

and instead they double down with the attitude of "how dare you suggest i'm a bad person!!" because that's how they interpret, "this behavior is harmful" and end up being worse than the original offense.

please just grow up! swallow your fucking pride, learn that you do not in fact know everything, and that sometimes you make mistakes. and when people point out those mistakes in good faith they are generally just trying to reduce harm by helping you not to make that same mistake again.

i know there are a lot of disingenuous people out there who just like to chase clout and pile on and will use anything as a tool to do that, but you cannot just close yourself off to all criticism because of it! you cannot just assume that you are never wrong and someone is always out to get you or else you will genuinely become a shitty person because you'll cut off all room to grow!

Just married couple in front of their burning car - photographer unknown

I looked up the original photo because I was wondering why the groom had no toes and was convinced this might be AI generated, but no. This is a real photo, but in the original the groom is wearing shoes. OP did you photoshop this image (badly) to make the groom barefoot???…

oh to be a nun in 1350 enjoying quiet time and gardening and having lots of lesbian sex and then dying at the ripe old age of 36

Life expectancy statistics measure the average age of death. Because infant/childhood mortality was so incredibly high until recently, it really dragged down that average. If you exclude infant/childhood mortality from your statistic, you’ll see that humans (that survive childhood) have consistently lived into their 70s, meaning if you were a woman that survived childhood and never had to go through pregnancy, you may well get a good 50+ years of lesbian sex and gardening!

Reblog for a good 50+ years of lesbian sex and gardening

“I always remember having this fight with a random dude who claimed that ‘straight white men’ were the only true innovators. His prime example for this was the computer… the computer… THE COMPUTER!!! THE COM-PU-TER!!!

Alan Turing - Gay man and ‘father of computing’ Wren operating Bombe - The code cracking computers of the 2nd world war were entirely run by women Katherine Johnson - African American NASA mathematician and ‘Human computer’ Ada Lovelace - arguably the 1st computer programmer”

Also Margaret Hamilton - NASA computer scientist who put the first man on the moon - an as-yet-unmatched feet of software engineering, here pictured beside the full source of that computer programme. #myhero

Grace Hopper - the woman that coined the term “bug”

Grace Hopper did more than coin the term “bug”. She invented the first program linker in the early 1950s, for the UNIVAC I. A program linker translates instructions from one language to another (for example, numerical codes that represent instructions translated to machine code that computers can read), which is the very foundation of how computer’s operate independently. she also pulled a steve rogers and tried to enlist in the military a bunch of times and was denied. then, an exception was made for her when she joined the navy reserves, and she ended up serving for over 40 years (half of which was active duty). she retired from the navy Rear Admiral Grace Hopper. she was born in NYC in 1906. Grace Hopper was a fucking badass.

also computing was typically a job for women (many of whom were black women that made incredible contributions) back in the day, so it’s absolutely fucking wild that straight white men think they are the foundation of computer innovation. men PUSHED women out and took the credit.

Also, just about every computerized device outside of desktops is running ARM chips now. Your phone, your keyboard, your car, your watch. Basically everything.

And ARM was primarily designed by Sophie Wilson, a trans woman.

Notes:

"School" in the question means the educational facility you usually attend between 5-17/18. I'm not including higher education in this definition.

Gens:

Baby Boomer - 1946-1964

Gen X - 1965 - 1981

Millennial - 1982 - 1995

Gen-Z - 1996 - 2011

I'm gonna assume we haven't got any silent generation (pre 1946) or gen alphas (2012+) who have somehow miraculously finished school already, lurking on tumblr.

Reblog for wider sample.
