Tiers of "it's basically canon":

  1. They have a textually explicit relationship arc that doesn't get any on-screen resolution because the media they appear in ended too soon and/or they're not main characters
  2. Their textual interactions are emotionally charged in way that isn't exactly sexual or romantic, but you can make a case for it if you squint just right
  3. Their textual interactions are marked by a lack of indifference
  4. They have textually interacted
  5. You can't prove it didn't happen

The ancient world was full of textile masterpieces we can only imagine… but most of them have rotted away. So few of them have come down to us in these days that we think of metal and stone as the primary mediums for the oldest artworks. But there were tapestries and fabric work that would have rivaled the finest wrought gold and iron and the first cave paintings.

This is a incredibly rare find. A ball of yarn made from stinging nettle fibers in the Late Neolithic (5900 years old) in what’s now Marin-Epagnier in Switzerland. The thread has been preserved by being carbonized. Look at how much thread that is! And how fine and even it is spun! The skill going into this is absolutely incredible. Imagine the incredible textile work that must’ve been made with that. For a reference here’s a ball of nettle yarn I managed to make with a drop spindle. That took me 300 hours of work.

Speaking of nostalgia, you know what I really miss about pre-2000s console RPGs?

The ones that have either no designated protagonist or a silent protagonist and many more recruitable characters than will fit in your party, so every cutscene has several dozen different versions of the dialogue to account for whatever improbable combination of weirdos you happen to have with you at the time.

Like, we’re about to have a serious, emotionally fraught moment here?

Well, let’s send the robot from the future, the aggressively bisexual cave person, and the anthropomorphic frog who inexplicably speaks Elizabethan English even though nobody else from their home town does and see what happens.

Brainless twitter discourse is so much more dreadful to me than even peak-era tumblr discourse because in its heyday tumblr discourse was almost exclusively written by 15 year olds who were naturally myopic, reactionary, reductive, and angry due to the condition of being 15. On twitter you find exactly this same kind of brainless behavior but with a 50% chance it was written by a 28-year-old with a masters degrees

this is such a small thing but i am actually deeply obsessed with the shots in andor where the imperial officers are just like drinking coffee…like og star wars was like these are cardboard villains who are always stiff and fully alert at their posts and andor at every turn is like no these are people they drink coffee and have complicated relationships with their family and enact horrific violence upon people but also they want to see the star fall and they feel something when they see beauty and it doesn’t change anything

shipping fictional characters together as an adult is actually very fun and i encourage it. it is also one of the worst things you can do to yourself and should not be attempted. it's very simple really.

pros of shipping fictional characters as an adult: having a more mature and experienced outlook on people and relationships actually opens up a lot of new funny, interesting, and even thoughtful ways of engaging with the concept of fictional people kissing. also, it's fun.

cons of shipping as an adult: you will inevitably form an extremely niche and personal interpretation of the relationship between your favorite fictional people who you want to smash together like barbie dolls or possibly on-fire waste disposal trucks, and become extremely annoyed by the popular fan interpretations that are bland and formulaic by comparison. but since you are also involved in the deeply cringe activity of getting emotionally invested in a fictional relationship you have no chance of being taken seriously if you complain about it, and therefore no choice but to try to ignore it and make your own content that is liked by 3 of your friends who are the only like-minded people you respect and that one account that likes everything you post anyway
