10 Lies Meat Eaters Tell Themselves
1. âPeople have always eaten meat and they always will.â
Sorry, but not true. Throughout human history, many cultures have eschewed meat. And just because something may have been done in the past doesnât mean we should continue to do it. Move on.
2. âIf I stop eating meat, it wonât make a difference.â It will to the more than 30 animals you save each year. All together, Americans ate 400 million fewer animals last year than we did just five years ago. Times are changing.
3. âWe need to eat meat to get protein.â No, we donât. Protein is abundant in plant foods. From nuts and beans to tofu and seitan, you donât need meat for adequate protein. Itâs a myth. The end.
4. âAnimals on farms are treated humanely.â Not even close. Over 95 percent of animals raised and killed for food live miserable lives on factory farms: crowded, filthy facilities where animals are crammed in tiny cages, mutilated without painkillers, and ruthlessly slaughtered. Donât believe it? Watch this.
5. âI donât like vegan food.â So you donât like french fries or pasta? What about peanut butter or chocolate? Please. You probably eat vegan food all the time and love it; you just donât call it vegan. Click here for some amazing vegan recipes. They taste great!
6. âBeing a vegan is unhealthy.â In reality, studies show that vegans have lower rates of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Plant-based diets have also been clinically shown to be one of the best ways to lose weight and safeguard against obesity.
7. âAthletes need meat to be strong.â Riiiight⊠unless youâre Olympian Carl Lewis, tennis champion Serena Williams, or ultramarathoner Scott Jurek. The list of vegan athletes is impressive and long. Forget about it.
8. âMy body needs meat.â No, it doesnât. Re-read number six. Your body would actually do much better without it.
9. âIf we stop eating meat, cows will take over the planet.â Seriously? Itâs called supply and demand. If people stopped eating meat, farmers would stop breeding animals. Itâs that simple.
10. âFactory farming is the only way to feed everyone.â Hold the phone. Not only is factory farming one of the leading causes of climate change; itâs also incredibly wasteful. It takes 16 pounds of grain to produce just one pound of beef. Imagine how many people we could feed with that grain.
As a vegan, I love cooking for non-vegans and blowing them away with delicious, filling meals. Like yes, food doesnât need to include meat/dairy/eggs to be super yummy and satisfying.
New Study Reveals That Millions Of Lives Could Be Saved And Global Emissions Reduced by A Third If The World Became Vegetarian
Different global issues often are problems that are interconnected and stem from one source. If you look back and connect the dots you will realize that food shortages wealth gaps, nutrition and disease, overpopulation, climate change and various other crisis all correlate to one another. However, in a new study undertaken by researchers at the University of Oxford, shows that one simple behavioural change can solve a few of these problems on its  own - if the entire human populace turned vegetarians. So what are the whopping statistics? How many deaths could we avoid yearly?

Dinge auf die ich 2016 verzichten kann: falsche Hoffnungen, falsche Freunde und LĂŒgner.
Und dann sitzt du Abends alleine in deinem Zimmer und merkst erst, wie einsam du bist.
