People really need to stop erasing Calum’s culture as a poc. He is half Scottish, half Kiwi. And even though New Zealanders are typically white, the next biggest ethnicity is the māori people. Māori people are of Eastern Polynesian decent. They were mainly nomadic but ultimately began to settle and flourish as a culture in the 18/19th century. This explains why Calum’s mother, his sister, and himself all look “Asian.” The Māori culture is actually quite interesting and I wonder if Calum ever learned about it growing up. And even if he didn’t you should because their history is so cool. Much like how people in Hawaii are American and most natives there look “Asian” but are not, there is still a separate culture. So Calum is not Asian but he is not fully white. So obviously don’t call him Asian, because he’s not, but also do not erase his culture because it’s important to have representation from poc, especially in the music industry because there can never be enough of it.
