I would lay down my sword for you. I would change my nature and go against everything i've known. I would resist the easy way out of solving my problems. I would give up the adrenaline of battle to stay by your side and make tea instead. I'm not sure I know who I am without a weapon in my hand because I've had to fight for so long but for you I'm willing to try and figure this out.
It must be hard. To put down your weapon that's protected you for so long. It's allowed you to stay alive it's kept you from getting hurt--physically and mentally. Because you've never had to worry about a real relationship if you think you'll be dead at the next battle. And you feel naked without it and it feels like you're ripping off an extension of yourself. Are you even whole without it? Are you worthy of being loved if you can't prove it by risking your life? And yet they've found someone who's asking them for something much harder than dying in battle on their behalf. They've found someone who wants them to live. And that's much more terrifying.
dao as a story about the warden learning to want to live, a warden who tried to reject duncan’s recruitment even if it was their only chance at survival ending up doing the dark ritual because they’ve learned to want to live, will simply never miss
i love how absurdly well it ties into all of the companions like alistair surviving all this with you after thinking he should have died with duncan at ostagar. morrigan and the warden having something to learn from each other in “survival is all that matters” vs. “some things are worth dying for”. leliana’s miracle being the mundane truth that there is ordinary beauty even in darkness. zevran who after rinna is on this journey with you. wynne who was wrong the love wasn’t a distraction from your duty it was what made you want to live victorious. sten who if he had not been given his purpose and a chance to recover his honour by you would have stayed to die in lothering. oghren destroying himself waiting for branka and only becoming someone on the surface. shale’s hesitant exploration of what it means to be alive in a more temporary body. loghain if recruited surviving what he saw only as an extension of his death sentence and making something of it, saving the land he wanted to save. even the dog who is alive because you were there to save it and when it was injured and hurting let you muzzle it because it wanted to live. showstopping narrative always new always brilliant
this is fantastic to me because it's EU canon that ballistic weapons like these are a bitch to handle with a lightsaber, because if you try to block them like blaster bolts the metal slugs just melt and keep on coming
like probably you could stop them with the Force if you'd drilled that reflex but you won't have, you've drilled blocking
so this would actually be a potentially workable, if unorthodox, option for a jedi up against a sith lord who had them spiritually outgunned
angel waiting at the bus stop will soon find that, freshly fallen from a higher dimension, it does not have any money for the fare, and its divine oddity will shock and blind the driver and passengers, but will not count towards any actual payment
overwatch is a silly piece of shit on its best days but its continued insistence that magic is real but only in japan is especially hysterical
hanzo and genji have haunted their hodgepodge of a narrative since 2016 with unambiguously magic powers in a soft-SF setting that went out of its way to conceptualise bogus technology like hard-light and biotics in order to fit its weirdness into some kind of "science" category. the fact they then didn't extend that consideration to hanzo and genji? they just left them as is? as witches? as fate-touched human vessels of ancient dragon spirits?? if genji wasn't a cyborg they could feasibly be minor sekiro bosses and that's weird dude!! and then kiriko gets released?? and these people had all the years in between ow1 and ow2 to find a way to hand-wave whatever weird shamanistic magic they accidentally let get into the game, and instead they make the only other japanese character a fucking spirit vessel as well. they doubled down. magic IS REAL in overwatch but ONLY on the BEAUTIFUL ISLANDS OF JAPAN, and no it's never ever going to be addressed because overwatch has as much coherent story as a themed puzzle page on the back of a kids cereal box. hysterical.

overwatch said if you are japanese you can do the following:

zenyatta is specifically a civilian chassis but he can become invulnerable and throw balls at you
