Favorite Doctor Who dynamics: First Doctor & Ian Chesterton

I absolutely love the friendship between the First Doctor and Ian. As one of the first companions, Ian was instrumental to the Doctor's early growth. Their relationship started antagonistic and quickly became almost like father and son. Over time, the Doctor begins to take on some of Ian's (and Barbara's) better traits, such as kindness, compassion, and a willingness to help those in need. Their witty banter and affection for each other felt genuine and apparent that it was translated directly from Hartnell and Russell's chemistry.

Ian: "You know, I don't think I'll ever get used to traveling with you, Doctor. There's always some remarkable new thing to see." Doctor: "The moment when you get used to it is the moment to stop, my dear boy." Ian (narrating): He smiled at me and rested his hand gently on my shoulder in friendship.
