Releasing Nimona on the last day of pride month 2023 was such a great move because it’s a really needed piece of media right now. Lots of countries that legalised gay marriage years ago have been grappling with this rising TERF narrative of “if you’re gay it’s whatever but if you’re trans, non-binary or gender non-conforming in some way you’re a PERVERT! A MONSTER trying to GROOM CHILDREN!” The outrage against simple things like pronouns and drag events, and the movement against gender affirming healthcare have reached a terrifying peaks for contemporary times.

So a kid’s movie set in a fictional country with controlling government officials with personal agendas, with an openly gay couple but also a shape-shifting kid who cannot even be afford to be out is our reality in the US today. Nimona’s feelings about her vibe, body and form, her insistence that she is only “Nimona” no matter what she looks like and her aversion to “small-minded questions” together forms such a beautiful allegory about trans, genderfluid individuals.

Ballister asks her to be a girl, but for whose sake? It’s only for the comfort of people who refuse to understand her, and would rather see her die than let her be herself. And it’s this widespread rejection and loneliness that has eventually made Nimona indifferent to pain, that makes her feel suicidal.

In the end, it is another member of the LGBTQ+ community that truly sees and accepts Nimona for who she is. And that should be a reminder that we cannot let them divide us. Trans people stood up for the rest of us and made historical change happen, and we need to do the same for them. Besides, cis queer people are only the “good ones” until they’re done with trans people and then will turn on us.

“you gotta go local you gotta find your local scene” I’M TRYING BUT I LIVE IN A TOWN FULL OF NERDS THE ONLY SCENE WE HAVE IS FOR TABLETOP GAMING

Stalk your tabletop scene like a werewolve’s hunting ground, slowing converting gamer girls into scene girls with carefully placed bites.

Okay, so a few minutes ago, someone messaged me asking what was up with a post they found vaguely talking about ignorant behavior and tagging my name. I get some messages like it every week or so, and this is why:

I made this post five months ago, and a long time friend/follower confronted me saying I was misusing AAVE. The way it was worded, I thought it meant they just didn’t realize I was quoting the right wingers, and that they thought I myself was using a word like “wokist” to refer to something, which became a confusing argument. This same user then made a post venting about me having invented “wokist” as some sort of joke, and I didn’t invent it, or quote it because I thought it was funny, so I explained that and they just said “alright” and I thought, yay! I fixed the misunderstanding I created! But then they make another post saying that by quoting it for any reason, I’m perpetuating misuse of it, and that did make sense to me, I got what made it so annoying for them, I told them so and apologized for not getting it, and I meant that sincerely? But these five months later, the same user and another user still make posts broadly alluding to something shitty I did, tagging my name, causing people to see it and sometimes DM me, and I’m sure for every person who DM’s me there must be more who see these posts and just go about internalizing that I was ignorant about *something* the posts usually don’t describe anymore. I don’t know why this is continuing unless something is still wrong that I wasn’t aware of? I didn’t apologize for the right thing? They think it was an insincere apology? There’s something more I wasn’t getting? I just don’t know why someone would keep on about this unless there’s more resolution they want. It wasn’t even until after the last apology that the user actually blocked me and I have NO idea what that means. I’m sure we still have mutuals in common since said user was even an active part of fandom around something I created, if you know who I mean can they just talk to me instead of vagueblogging in a way that’s actually causing an ongoing problem???

it seems to me a person would have to be purposefully reading that post in the worst faith possible

Splatoon had an update where it added “Cheese Mode”. This mode was just the exact same as the first, casual game mode, but with everyone wearing comical cheese hats. The icon for the mode was the transgender flag. Everyone agreed that this was the best thing to ever happen to Splatoon.

through various circumstances beyond your control, you are being forced to add a minimum of one extra eye to your body. the entity (probably wizard or warlock) forcing this upon you is nice enough to give you a choice.

note: the eye/s will by default look like your pre-existing eyes, same color and shape, unless you come up with something cool enough to convince the wizard/warlock to put in the extra effort to fulfill your design desires. i.e. giving you the pupil of a goat, making your iris purple, making the eye insanely large, etc. make your plea in the tags if you so wish.
