She/her✨Virgo✨Insufferable
💛Just here to procrastinate my life away, it’s nice to meet you💛

Time to feed unprofessional managers what they’ve been dishing out for far too long.

Couple things here, for when you do this to people:

1. if you get the “answer my call” text, NEVER ANSWER THE CALL

They are calling you because they want to have the conversation verbally, and be able to lie later about what they said or didn’t say. Force them to continue via text or email- force them to continue the conversation in writing or not at all.

2. “Lack of 2 weeks notice is unprofessional!” or the other version, “Not providing notice is illegal!”

No it isn’t. Neither is true.

And in the US, all states except Montana are “at will” employment (though you may hear an employer refer to it as “right to work” to make it sound better, it’s the same thing). Sure, at-will employment means they can fire you without cause, BUT! It also means that you are not legally required to give a reason for quitting, or to give notice of any kind.

Is it polite to give notice when you can? Sure. Do bosses expect it? Absolutely. But that does not make you legally required to provide it.

3. The only thing I would change in the worker’s interaction here was their response when initially asked to come in.

Employee: “Hey Mark. Sorry I’m unable to cover the shift tonight because I’m studying for my exam tomorrow.”

Don’t give a reason for your lack of availability. It may be tempting to. You may feel rude if you don’t.

DON’T DO IT.

You do not owe your boss any information about what you do off the clock, and any reason you give will only ever be used against you.

Boss: “Hey I need you to cover Jasper’s shift tonight.”
Employee: “Sorry, I’m not available.”

And leave it at that.

Do not elaborate.

Do not offer additional information.

When you boss asks you to elaborate, because they will, be polite but firm. “With respect, that’s personal. I’m sorry, but I’m unavailable to cover this shift/work late/come in early/etc.”

Be a broken record- you’re unavailable. That’s the only information they need to know, and it’s the only information they have a LEGAL RIGHT to know.

Please stop giving your bosses information they don’t need to know and don’t get to have, because they’re only going to try and use it to fuck you over later.

Domestic incompetence is going to kill men

For anybody who doesn't understand, THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD.

Basically the dryer has a filter for lint and you should clean it regularly. It's not actually that bad! The lint sticks to itself so it's easy to pull out, and while it looks dirty since it's from clean clothes it's not actually filthy. You can absolutely wear gloves if you don't want to directly touch it.

(In my experience it tends to be very soft and fuzzy, actually a pleasing texture but, again, if you don't want to directly touch it you don't have to.)

Not cleaning it out results in a buildup of the lint and this is a major cause of driers catching on fire.

For anybody

who doesn’t understand, THIS

IS A FIRE HAZARD.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.

Good bot.

Reminder that lint is so good at catching fire when exposed to heat that it can be used as a fire starter when camping.

I think something people don't talk about is the negligence many parents show in raising their kids.

When you're seeing these young (or older) adults demonstrate a lack of life skills, it's not cute or funny.

When you're seeing people suffering because domestic work wasn't taught to them because they were a boy, you're seeing a result of sexism.

When you're seeing people suffering because tech maintenance work wasn't taught to them because they were a girl, you're seeing a result of sexism.

Teach your children all the core skills no matter what gender you think they are.

"ingredients you can pronounce!!!" actually i'm great at phonics and i love eating chemicals

if you can't pronounce maltodextrin why would i trust you on literally anything

one of my coworkers tried to advocate for me during her exit interview bc of the 20k pay disparity between me & another person in my year but it sounds like it went really badly & she called me to be like uhhhh so if management retaliates against you just fyi it’s mostly their fault but also kind of mine so i’ll write you a really nice reference letter for your next job

just got an email from management titled “meeting re: pay equity” if this bitch actually got me a raise…

spent literally all day in meetings about this today and management has agreed to enter talks about changing the pay structure after i sent them a unionized pay scale from a similar organization with all salaried employees CC’ed lmao

we had a separate call without management afterwards and told each other our full pay histories and any justifications they had given us when we tried to negotiate past raises and it turns out they’ve been lying to us all about pay ranges for years l m a o, meanwhile the girl who started all this is sitting in on all the calls watching the chaos unfold around her like a righteous blazing angel and i owe her my life

just got offered a 20k raise 😳 talk about your salaries with your coworkers besties

SOMETHINGS GOT TO GIVE

LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR

My parents were talking abt some scammer that had called my aunt saying he “knew her password” and would “share to all her contacts that she watched a porno” unless she paid him not to.

Upon hearing this story on the group chat, my other aunt asked her “well, did you even watch a porno?”, to which my aunt replied in all caps “NO!!!”

And since I had a laughing fit, my mom asked me “oh what are you laughing about? tell us, I wanna laugh too :)” and without thinking I said “oh yknow, about the ‘lemon stealing whore’”

And my parents were like “…the…what??”

Well, I was in too deep already, so I recited the dialogue more or less. Our lemon tree is so beautiful blah blah blah, and they were like “okay that sounds like a pretty funny video but what does it have to do w/ porn”

and I was like well. I don’t know how to break it to ya but the internet says that video is actually a porno’s intro. And my parents, of course, were like “show us the video.”

And I was like, “ya sure? You’re gonna regret it”.

But they insisted so I did. And immediately after they were like “I regret asking you to show us the video”

I was gonna say that this was like a “dead dove do not eat” situation but then it’d be one more meme to explain, so I didn’t

i don’t know how anyone can hear a 14 year old girl say “my own mother thought i was a monster. she was right of course” and not think ‘that is an incredibly hurt child’
