studyblr intro

-> it's been a while so I wanted to post another one of these.

About me:

  • call me Kimble :]
  • woman. indifferent about gender and prns.
  • high school senior (US) intending to study international economics.
  • I like enjoy writing, making art, embroidering, crocheting, reading, cooking, and baking.
  • I've had this studyblr for a while now and I always love interacting with other similar blogs. I like posting aesthetic pictures in order to romanticize my academics and hopefully inspire others.
  • My posted will be tagged w/ #kimblestudies and #hydestudies
Priorities: Maintain good grades -> current classes are Calculus II/Differential Equations, AP Government and Economics, AP Art, Geoscience, and AP Literature.
-> I am also going to self-study for AP Human Geography and Environmental Science
More about me:

-> I have three cats: Rowan, Apollo, and Luci <3

-> I love listening to music, and don't know if I have a favorite artist for sure, but I like listening to Lemon Demon when I do math. Other favs are Dresden Dolls, The Velvet Underground, Mitski, Will Wood, MGMT, Glass Animals, Hozier, and quite a few musical soundtracks.

-> I am neurodivergent with anxiety, and I've found out how to work with my brain to make school work for me! (Most of the time, anyway).

-> I keep an 'everything journal' and it works really well for me.

-> I'm agnostic, but sometimes I might post some stuff about my crystal collection or tarot cards.

-> I also collect keychains and shiny objects.

-> My favorite genres are horror, science fiction, classic lit, and historical fiction (particularly historical fantasy).

-> INTJ, 5w6

Goals:
-> Enjoy my senior year -> Apply for Colleges -> Get accepted in Uni and move out :)

╰┈➤ 4/100 days of productivity 💌

Today was a bad day. I didn't accomplished much because my depression kicked in and forced me in bed for almost all day.

Tomorrow's gonna be better, at least I hope so.

To-do list for tomorrow:

  • Clean my room
  • Design something
  • Start reading a new book
  • Visit my grandparents

12/08/23

the last few days were focused more on physical rather than mental work but at least i was able to get through Barańczak's poetry 🍵 with 7 weeks of vacations left i'm reminding myself to cherish them more

spending all my time in the garage gave me a back pain, a backlog in spanish, but also a fixed car and time to practise qigong so fair enough.

aalso my new tablet arrived today. it's a gift from my parents for my first year in uni and i'm really grateful because i've had my eye on it for some time. the amount of functions is still quite overwhelming tho 😵‍💫

I have recognized, I don’t need anything for happiness. If I’m happy right now, I’ll be happy in the future. I won’t be happy to win a exam, get accepted for a job or buy something I’m aiming to buy. Just these are just extra. Real happiness is loving yourself and your own life journey. I realized that I love my own life journey very much. I love not only reaching my goals but also striving for my goals. I love being on the road!! 💖

School Tips 📕🌸🎀

(I have never gotten below an A in my life)

  • Get stuff done the day you get it, including projects. If you can’t get the project done, have it completed in the next three days. It seems like a lot, but once you do it, it literally changes your school life
  • Make sure not to draw in class, unless you’re in art
  • Quizlet premium is your best friend, if you cannot afford it, use knowt.com it’s a FREE version of Quizlet premium
  • don’t share your quizlets or notes with anyone except for your best friend
  • romanticize school
  • Pick out school supplies you think are cute
  • make colorful notes so you feel like studying them
  • Ask questions, you don’t look stupid, you look intuitive and as if you want to learn more
  • don’t even think about playing even “just one round” of a game on your school computer/iPad, you got work to do
  • if you have no work, study, have nothing to study, look up videos on YouTube about what you’re going to learn next in class so you can get ahead
  • having an after school routine is a must
  • download Quizlet or any other studying apps on your phone so you can play them on the way to school or when you’re in the car
  • try to read at least 50 pages a week, it helps increase testing scores (or 50 watt pad chapters)
  • Dont like the grade you got? Talk to your teacher about it and ask what prompted them to give you that grade/what mistakes were made. In most cases, they will check it again and see they made a mistake.

the most “cocomelon shit” i’ve ever experienced in my life was the time i was in calculus II and some girl in front of me was googling "assorted animals" and scrolling through pictures of clipart pigs and horses and shit on her laptop completely focused like it was her tax form

My Studying Plans; As an Accounting Major!

Before Class
  • Read the book before lectures: It helps you understand what the teacher is talking about, and how they connect the ideas together.
  • Look over your homework & notes for references and reminders.
  • Organize your backpack! Noting better than a clean and organized backpack to set the mood for the day!
  • Set a Daily Goal! What do you want to achieve today in each class? What concepts do you want to be more knowledgeable about today?
  • Arrive Early! It gives you extra time to prepare your materials and you’re more likely to stay engaged.

During Class
  • Always go! You will miss a concept, and getting a classmate's notes isn’t the same.
  • Stay fully focused! A proper professor wants you to pass, and your time is all that they want.
  • A tip for focusing is to pretend that you really care about what the professor is talking about! Pretend it's about your favorite subject.
  • Ask questions during class! No one will judge you too hard, I promise. It will help you close the gap in between ideas and concepts that you are confused about.
  • Get a notebook for notes! (Funny statement I know!) I mean get you a notebook that you don't mind writing sloppily in, cause you might have to write fast. My old classmate used to sloppily write in her notebook, and then during study hall she would make it more organized and visually appealing (she was later the salutatorian!)
  • Ask questions right after class! Usually this is the time where you ask the smaller questions that can be answered in a short amount of time, the teacher doesn’t mind answering these I promise.

After Class
  • Finding a place to study! Notice what stimulates you to study, is it the food court? A study room? Personally I like to study around other people, and being alone makes me go on my phone.
  • Visit teachers during office hours! Not only will this give you clarifications, but this will also help you in the long run with developing relationships with your teachers! If they know you, they are likely to give you project extensions, bumped grades, etc.
  • “It’s harder to fail the students I’ve come to know.”
  • Schedule! All of the subjects that I will study today and the next day, make it a simple little checklist!

Studying Method
  • 30/15 Method! A method where you study for 30 minutes followed by a 15 minute break! Continue the intervals until study time is over.
  • Drink water or Matcha! This is a rule for myself, matcha boosts my mood and always makes me feel more productive, so I’ll stay engaged!
  • When playing music- make sure that it isn’t too loud so that you can think! Make a playlist full of calming instrumentals so that you can stay off your device! Get a cheap pair of pretty headphones.
  • Strict No Procrastination! Ban your phone from the study area, you will get distracted (you can look during the 15 mins)
  • Study at most 3 objectives in a studying session!
  • Study from general topics to specific topics!
  • Use studying sites! Sites that turn topics into a game work best for me (ex. Kahoot, Quizlet)
  • Use your hands! Write on a whiteboard or a notebook which gives you a better chance of remembering than typing.

After Studying!

Enjoy yourself! Have a light snack, go for a walk, a small 7 minute stretch, and visit the campus gym! Anything to reward your behavior pretty girl!
