My fandoms are: RTD-era Doctor Who, Supernatural, and Merlin.

Doctor/Rose fic recs – lost gems you probably haven’t even heard of!

Over the past couple of years, I've been trolling the fanfic archives on LJ comms like time_and_chips, as well as old Teaspoon posts, and I've noticed that there are a bunch of awesome, old fics from prior to the time that most of my friends entered the fandom. A lot of these are from authors who have since deleted their LJ accounts, or are otherwise inactive. And it's a shame when I read a fic that makes me cry - and there have been no comments on it in like 5+ years @.@ So, here are some recs - old stuff from authors who are no longer writing. They're no longer active, so their stuff is really fading into the shadows unless it's highlighted again. Please enjoy!! And please give some of these brilliant fics some love! =)

What if we all just collectively agreed that 5x13 didn’t happen, and just embraced delusion?

5x13? What 5x13?

Everyone knows Merlin goes straight (heh) from the cliffhanger in 5x12 to merthur kissytimes in 5x14, like an elevator skipping the 13th floor in a hotel.

I feel like Arthur’s death was Merlin’s punishment. Punishment for putting Arthur above magic. For neglecting his duties against magic and sorcerers. Merlin was put to Arthur, to help magic be legal again, to help sorcerers and prevent their execution. But Merlin failed his mission, because he fell in love with Arthur. The love for Arthur outweighed everything. Merlin neglected his duties for the sake of Arthur. Merlin used magic for Arthur’s sake no matter who was the opponent, just to keep Arthur safe. And Merlin paid for it. He paid the highest price he could.

"Why did you never tell me?" was such a significant question from Arthur. It's saying "I am your friend, I would've wanted to know". It's implying Arthur haven't even considered that the law would be reason enough to keep Merlin from being honest about this. That Merlin was supposed to know Arthur would never execute him, no matter what he did. It's the grief of missing out on a crucial part of his best friend. Having lost all the days they could have spent together in Camelot, at the castle, in his chambers, on hunts, during battles, everything as before, except knowing everything. It's saying that whatever burdens Merlin had faced, Arthur would've wanted to help bearing them, but it's too late now. God. He just wanted to have him figured out.

I know that creating AI voices on actor performances is something that opens a huge mess of ethical issues…

But I’m not going to lie — When someone posted this TikTok link in my story’s comments, in which AI voices that sound JUST LIKE Bradley and Colin recite my words, I absolutely lost my freaking mind in the best of ways.

I am both technologically guilt-ridden and also over-the-moon ecstatic, two emotions I had not known I could experience simultaneously.

Holy crap. Ok now I want the whole fic series like that, 3 sentences and I’m spoiled.
