thinking about what their photo ID’s might look like lol. Left and Right are the main girls of Sad Girl Space Lizard 🚀
will your space lizard comic be available to buy as a digital comic?
i’m considering it! i know it’s a great option for people who live outside the US and might not be able to afford a physical copy. if i do make it available digitally, it’ll probably be after my copies are all sold out.
my first graphic novel, “Sad Girl Space Lizard” will be debuting at CALA this year !! 144 pages in b&w! it’s about Left, support girl on a two-person mech crew (with her hot coworker, pilot Right) who face being stranded in space together after an accident on their ship. (it’s NSFW!)
i’ll be doing preorders to be shipped out after CALA-- opening on Nov. 15 !!!
here’s a bunch of unused boards of mine from “Crossover Nexus” ! (besides the drawing of KO sending Ben through the air on a power fist, lol.) this episode was originally a 22 minute 2-parter so a ton of antics got cut from the final. i had fun going back through and looking at it all, i had forgotten about most of this lol!
i wrote a big thread on this with a bunch more boards and info! this episode was a beast but the wonderful response made it worthwhile :’) thanks everyone!!
daaang dude. i just stumbled back onto your blog, i used to follow you way back when, & now i see yr working on ok ko! thats awesome!!!!!! fuck it up
thank you!!!!! this was a nice thing to say... ive certainly come a long way.... thanks ko
dude i am such a big fan of your comic and i just started reading it hahah, i especially love the backgrounds they're so dreamy,, I was wondering if you have any tips or a process for them? like , do you sketch them out first ? thank you!! love your art
digging back and looking at some ancient asks......... thank you! i think this one is probably referring to icecream and beast ..... my process for making comics is different every time, if i try to stick to the same process i did before no matter what i’ll end up getting really stuck. i always have to be really receptive to how i feel like working at the moment, haha.
but generally, i like to thumbnail on paper, take pictures and rough over them digitally, and then i go from there. i think for icey & beast i was just making page roughs right off the bat! but yeah, i’m not brave enough to try to draw comics without rough first haha, it helps me out to figure out where everything will be placed on the page.
one of my favorite jokes from “Special Delivery".. pird doesn’t know what he’s getting into, as usual
a collection of storyboards from my section of ok ko's “Special Delivery”. i still love looking at all the ridiculous expressions and rad’s gradual descent into darkness and kidnapping
i looooove the twin biker goons designed by @dannyducker, i had a lot of fun designing their bike too! (i concepted it on a long gone scrap of paper, keep good records folks lol)
hi there, i wanna talk about “SPECIAL DELIVERY” because it aired yesterday and is really really ~SPECIAL~ to me!
this episode is the first one anna & i boarded together, and was really challenging in a way i don’t think we expected, but it ended up being my favorite episode i’ve worked on to-date. anna is a total pro, and i feel so lucky to have them as my board partner!!!
SD also features an original song by OK KO’s resident punk, BG painter william gibbons!! during the pitch phase i used a motion city soundtrack song as a stand-in for the sing along (which you can watch above!) and asked william about creating a song for the sequence before it went to animatic. he completely nailed the feeling and sound i was thinking of, and from there our animatic timer nick worked some insane editing magic to really plus everything up! you can see that the version i was pitching was pretty barebones in comparison. he made it super memorable and fun!
this ep was such a collaborative effort from the whole team, from revisions to editing to the animators at sunmin, and i hope you all enjoyed it. check out the rest of the new OK KO episodes airing all week, and be nice to your friends!!!
