A thing I would like to see: AU where in New Spring, Elaida's ''help'' doesn't get exposed and Siuan and Moiraine are stuck with Elaida who is drop-dead convinced three of them are best friends forever and intent on playing role of honorary big sister, and she is NOT taking no for answer. I love this??? I would love to see Elaida going around like “YOU WILL LET ME HELP YOU, FAVORITES” like a Glinda wearing Elphaba drag.
Elaida is absolutely one of those characters whose greatest weakness is having too much of a beneficial trait, and I love the idea of her squandering her patient years of influence and measured hoarding of power in a series of incredibly batshit moves to help her besties do deranged things.
I love Elaida and I just want to see her happily unhinged, since the main series gave me so much unhappily unhinged Elaida. I will also accept hinged Elaida, but only in moderation (a thing Elaida cannot be allowed to have for long).
Oh my my I love that yes yes. Because no matter how Wheel turns Elaida needs to absolutely self-sabotage the power and influence she spent so long building up, and I feel that losing all that renown and political power in order to help her besties- while still massively inconveniencing them- is the best way to do it. Also imagine this conversation:
ELAIDA: You were searching for Dragon Reborn??? So that is why you were so mysterious during all these years. You should have told me, I would not have spent decades building your power base in wrong direction. MOIRAINE: Elaida, again, the less people knew the better, and only reason me and Siuan survived is because Black Ajah was unaware that... Wait. My power base? For what? ELAIDA: For when you retake Cairhien, seat yourself upon the Sun Throne and demolish rivals of House Damodred, of course. MOIRAINE: ... You are aware that I run off from the Tower so I wouldn’t be made a Queen, right? ELAIDA: *nodding* So you wouldn’t be placed on the throne under sufferance of the White Tower, open to attacks of all the rival houses looking to unseat Dynasty by destroying young queen. Instead you would spend decades preparing your moves while Siuan climbed to the Amyrlin Seat, from where she would support you on your rise to the power while I and you put pressure on your niece and nephews of Andor... Which might still be salvaged for your goals. MOIRAINE: Elaida, what did you do? ELAIDA: Do you want me to start from co-opting Red spy network or from making sure all professional assassins in Cairhien are sworn in service of the true Sun Queen?
But also Elaida’s interactions with Wonder Girls imagine that...Like she is just off being horrible to them and nynaeve fights back and every Aes Sedai around is being like ‘’Elaida! Stop playing favourites and currying them favor!’’ Because Elaida shows her love by trying to prepare you to run away from sharks while being handcuffed, so she will break your arm and toss you off cliff into the sea.
And please just imagine Elaida misinterpreting her prophecies IN Rand’s favor and supporting his match with Elayne. Or Elaida trying to help Egwene ascend to Amyrlin but in that ‘’stage mum living vicariously through kid’’ vibes
