After I finished Dave the Psyduck, a lot of you were interested in starting your own giant Pokemon and thus the community project for a complete 151 Pokedex of giant Pokemon was born!
When?
This project doesn’t really have a deadline, we just want to see all gen one Pokemon in giant form eventually. Gotta catch ’em all!
How big is giant?
I thought a minimum of 12 inches tall or long was a good place to start.
Does it have to be crochet?
No! Use whatever creative materials you’d like as long as it’s physical and 3D.
How do I sign up?
There is a sign up form pinned in the #giant-pokemon-project Discord channel. Only submit 1 or 2 claims at a time just to give others the opportunity to claim. If you finish making one, you can claim another.
Can I claim a Pokemon someone has already claimed or made?
Yes! The claim sheet is only there to help us keep track of which Pokemon have been made and which ones are being worked on. We can absolutely have more than one of a single Pokemon, the more the merrier! But if we want to complete the Pokedex, we’ll need people to sign up for ones that haven’t been made yet.
Where can I get help/ideas?
Join the Discord! All things related to this project are posted in the #giant-pokemon-project channel. My Psyduck post also goes over how I made him, including my yarn & hook choices. It might also help you figure out how much material you’ll need.
What do I do with the finished project?
You can keep them! If you’d rather not keep a giant Pokemon in your house, consider donating them to this cause: https://stuffedanimalsforemergencies.org/volunteer. You could also run a raffle or try to sell them at a craft fair or ComicCon!
