Another 30-minute illustration of Berkley Tate from another recent Off the Cuff episode! I love finding ways to convey totally different attitudes on the same face like this.
If you're curious about the campaign that Barkley is from, check out The Rise of Balxiros over here on @kaleidraws' website!
Fantastic news: "Behind the Curtain" now features subtitles available in Turkish, courtesy of the very generous and savvy translator Mebiyu! Please go check out their other translation work on their channel here!!
YouTube has unfortunately removed the ability for viewers to contribute subtitles to videos, but if you speak another language and would like to see subtitles in that language added to Behind the Curtain, please feel free to contact me via my website (https://www.keyblack.net/contact) and submit your translation of the lyrics!

Behind the Curtain is so tremendously beautiful that I'm listening to it on loop (along with the opening of Oshi no Ko 🤣) and I noticed an interesting thing: the style of Alice Twisted Toon reminds me a lot of the toon style of Jessica Rabbit was taken as a reference point for the style mixed with 3D by chance 😍?
Thank you very much! Yep - Jessica Rabbit was a HUGE influence on the Angel's personality in Behind the Curtain. I actually talked about her inspirations and the development of her character in a previous episode of my Off the Cuff series!
Her personality and role in the story were crafted to be a proper lady by @kaleidraws, playing the part of the only character capable of calling Henry to pay attention to and deal with what he'd been ignoring for 30 years. I had a lot of fun learning how to animate her in 2D, and while she may have only been in two or three 3D animated shots, there was a lot of subtlety that went into her model's design as well, including that veeeery slight shift in expression at the end!! Ewa did a fantastic job creating her model, and our 3D animation team did an equally fantastic job bringing her to life.
Hiya Hailey, it’s been a long while. With all that’s happened, I hope you’ve been alright trying to get back on your feet. I just wanna let you know that I’m standing by you. What happened to you was not only unfair, but completely unnecessary and vile. May you find someplace that will take you in and stand by you as well, despite the stampede of the animals that badgered you. God bless you, and have a lovely day. 🫂
What a wonderful message, thank you so much. I'm in a fantastic place right now - I have indeed been very blessed to find good friends who'd not only stand by me but help me learn to stand more solidly myself. I'm extremely grateful for their friendship, and for what I've learned and continue to learn over the last few years.
God bless you, too, Colin!

(don’t mind this smexy drunk bee on the ground, she can’t fly at the moment to get out of here but she is enjoying her stay so far🍷🐝👍)
I haven't seen the word "smexy" used online since the early days of Yu-Gi-Oh! the Abridged series. Bravo, friend. Please enjoy your stay, and I hope you enjoy my artwork!

God bless America! Hope you all have a wonderful July 4th!
Do you still like balan stuff? And would you ever animate him again?
I very much do still like Balan Wonderworld! I'd love to draw or animate him again if I get the chance - I may not have as much free time as I used to, but if the topic comes up on an Off the Cuff, you can absolutely expect more Balan art from me.
"Crooked, previously-broken nose" is such a hot trait to give your characters. Im begging you to fuck up your characters' noses
Sounds like this dude wants to check out Hailey's art for The Rise of Balxiros.
I wish stories of movies and shows could be contained again. I wish characters could live in their worlds for the right amount of time needed to tell a good story and not overinflated to set up for a sequel because too many threads of the original narrative were purposely left unresolved. I miss good stories that were wrapped and finished in a bow, and if it was left with an open-ended ending, it was for the audience to interpret any possible outcome to further enhance the story, not set up for franchises
Sounds like this dude wants to read my book.
Dude!! Behind the curtain was dope! It’s so good to see your toon Henry au resurfacing, it’s a wickedly cool premise you’ve just gotta expand on!
Also, how many Off the cuff’s are you planning to make? I’d love to see you do more of your interpretations of the characters.
Thank you so much, man!! Super glad to hear that! Kalei did an amazing job writing a fantastically engaging story for Henry Ross; I'm as excited for its finale as you are.
Off the Cuff is going to be an ongoing tri-weekly series on my YouTube channel, encompassing topics all over the board from the projects I'n working on to other stories and events I take inspiration from! You can expect a new one every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday morning at 8 AM CST. There will definitely be more BTC discussion on them in the future - I've actually got a few special episodes coming down the pipe in a little bit; I hope you enjoy them!
Hi! First i wanted to say that the song "Behind the Curtains" was amazing and i basically i am hearing it everyday and just started learning the lyrics to sing in with the instrumental.
But i wanted to ask about part 3.
How much time will it take?
And if the man with a mustache be in it? Will he and Henry fight?
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! The best way to keep up with all of our future project updates is to subscribe to @kaleidraws' substack at kaleiworks.substack.com!
As for the finale for the Welcome Home series - I won't give away any spoilers, but the story and music for the next video after Behind the Curtain are written!! It's hard to say right now how long production will take, as Behind the Curtain was funded purely out of pocket and took about 2.5 years to produce. There are other projects we are working on as well, including both Kalei's ongoing substack articles ranging from historical and film analyses to modern culture, as well as my new YouTube series "Off the Cuff," which you can find on my YouTube channel... AND some as-of-yet unannounced projects which I am VERY excited about.
In the meanwhile, I hope you continue to enjoy our work, and if you would like to see what happens next in Henry Ross's story, please share "Behind the Curtain" around with your buds and spread the word!!
I'll be uploading videos tri-weekly about a variety of topics, including personal projects and various things I take inspiration from.
For the first seven episodes, I've been discussing various aspects of the production of "Behind the Curtain," ranging from the initial concept all the way to the final animation. Each episode is accompanied by a speed-art illustration related to the topic of the day!
Also, have a bonus one that I didn't get to use because the recording didn't work:
