When he leaves me. I slip into a shorter dress that hugs my curves more Tightly then him. I label tequila love, and sing drunk in love at the top of My lungs. I call him sober and blame the alcohol that isn’t even running In my blood. I throw glitter over my room and when my mother clenches the door with burning eyes I claim this is a dreamland. I write his name over and over again and call it poetry. Press my stories into strangers skin and whisper his name into a nameless face instead. I cry in airplanes and laugh at funerals. Dress in black in weddings. I run over the road when signals goes green and blame color blindness when a police officer handcuffs my old textbook hands. I sleep in strangers bed and scream at love. Look you’re not the only one who can destroy me. I can destroy myself too.

my head hurts but not in a pain way. in a way like there’s a girl inside me and she’s sobbing and tearing her hair out. i’m very good at smiling while that happens. i’m very good at ignoring her. i just wish i knew how to shut her up.
