If you’re looking for gay stuff you came to the right place

ted lasso is like hehe silly goofy american coaching football. also your relationship with your father will always come back to haunt you. enjoy 😊

A friend once said to me "I feel like I'm not actually working at my job because there's so little to do" and I was like "the way I see it, if you can't sleep and you can't jerk off, you're at work no matter what".

And I just realized this gives me a new perspective on homelessness. There's a certain baseline amount of labor you're expected to do in public, finding places to exist unobtrusively, moving when the cops tell you to. No one is ever truly "off the clock" until they're in their own home, if they have one.

I'm sure Michel Foucault or somebody wrote about this long before I did.

As someone who’s living with a middle school social studies teacher, all the posts along the lines of “why did we never learn about this historical event in school” just make me go “because your teacher was supposed to cover all of US history in one year, and they didn’t get to the Revolutionary War until Halloween because they were urged to slow down the progression of the lessons because a more senior teacher was running behind, and they didn’t get to the Civil War until Valentine’s Day because the school kept scheduling every special event during social studies because there’s no end-of-grade testing for that subject, and they didn’t get to WWI until May because they were sick for a few days and the substitute couldn’t do much more than babysit, and now they’re having to do the entire Cold War in two days, so that’s why you didn’t hear about the lesbian inventor of the circus peanut. They would have loved to tell you about the lesbian inventor of the circus peanut!”

it also made me very sad at one point one of the kids said her dad was being hateful towards drag queens and that he had a very skewed/incorrect view of what a drag queen was and wouldnt listen to her and told her she was “too naive” when she tried to explain

and i replied “if i remember correctly when youre at this age it seems adults will wave off any of your life experiences even if they lack their own because they refuse to see those younger than them as their own people” and EVERY SINGLE KID AT THE TABLE turned and said EXACTLY

and i was like. oh. so i wasnt alone in that. but also. i dont have to BE that. im not doing that. im listening and actually talking to them. i hope that there are older people in their life doing the same.

um. i dont know how to say. please listen to the children in your life. its true sometimes youll know better but, often times they have perspectives we may miss and dismissing them hurts everyone in the end. we have so much we can share and learn together.

Ok just watched James Gunn talking about the OG and the new Groot, he said the new Groot grew up with a family and treated as a part of a family but the OG Groot was treated like an animal for much of his life. Him saying this made me yearn for a Rocket and Groot meeting story, old Groot had such a big heart even though according to Gunn, he was treated so badly and then he met Rocket somehow… Ugh imagine Rocket’s reaction, he probably never trusted anyone after escaping from HE and then he met this selfless giant tree that sacrificed himself to save him…

‘‘Why are you doing this… Why?’‘ Rocket asked when he realized what the OG Groot was doing, he didn’t understand why would Groot sacrifice himself for him… I feel like deep down in vol 1 and before, Rocket was expecting Groot to leave him one day.

every week ted lasso is consistently like “the villains are not people they are the constructs, cultures, and mindsets we fall victim to, these intangible villains are not who we are but we also do things we must be held accountable for while under the influence of these antagonistic forces of vengeance and vanity and insecurity and retribution and toxic masculinity and silence and mistrust, and if you break through all of that noise to instead choose radical empathy you will become a fundamentally better and more loving, forgiving, person capable of real happiness. except for rupert. he’s the fucking worst.”

and they’re fucking right.

The teenager was asked to write a short scene or draw a short comic using a comedic trope from a list on a handout in their HS American Lit class. They chose to do the comic …

the Bard will never die.

and this comic is fucking genius.

The thing in Gurdians of the Galaxy is that they don't really care about being good. They just want to be with their little band of misfits and accidentally saving the galaxy in the process.

In GOTG 1, they have no other choice bc they don't want to die.

In GOTG 2, Quill just wanted a dad. The dad happens to be an egomaniac.

In Endgame, Rocket and Nebula just wanted to bring their family back.

In GOTG 3, they just wanted to save a friend.

And their selfishness is what makes them more human than any superhero movie... though only .5 of them is actually human 😭

The whole Reddit thing is an especially striking example of corporate brain rot because, like, they managed to build their entire business model on the back of exploiting vast quantities of unpaid volunteer labour, and successfully convinced the entire Internet that this is a normal state of affairs. How do you fuck that up? How do you convince yourself that instituting a de facto demand for your very nearly 100% volunteer workforce to pay you for the ability to use the tools that are required to do their job is anything other than cutting your own throat?

something about the way that the guardians pack bond with literally every stray they meet, even and especially the ones that try to kill them. like they just keep collecting members because everyone forced to spend more than an hour with them can’t help but become attached.

"I know what it's like to have power fail you, to be betrayed, to lose everything you love. Everything falls, Aneela...from fathers to empires. But we are queens, and queens rise." "What do you want, Qreshi?" "To share in your vengeance and sit at your table."
