Photos from a historical display at Kansas City’s Union Station showing the station in its heyday–and the bottom one, in its decay.  The bottom three photos show the waiting area in the promenade adjacent to the tracks.  This is the area with the blue lighting in the previous set.  My Amtrak train didn’t access this area, but stopped at an exterior platform some distance from the building, necessitating a walk along an apparently temporary wooden structure–work is ongoing.  Union Station is more than a train station these days; it’s a multi-use facility.  More here.
