yesterday i reblogged a drawing resource that included how to draw hijabs - and it honestly wasn’t the best advice i’ve seen out there

now, i’m not an artist. but what i saw was a video that included hijab styles most of us don’t really wear and incorrect terminology surrounding niqabs and burqas (yes, there is a difference between the two)

so, i went searching and found a tutorial that i felt was better! these drawing guides and examples come from @/winchestermeg on twitter, and i think they’re really great 💕

in 1996, he was convicted of kidnapping and murdering three women and was sentenced to death.

this conviction is entirely false. he didn’t murder anybody.

he has been found not guilty of the crime. at this point, the only reason he remains in jail is because he was at the scene of the crime. the court also claims that he bullied willis hayes, the man who actually did murder the three women, into killing them. however, willis hayes has come forward and has admitted that dustin DID NOT commit the crime, and he’s also even confessed that dustin never bullied him into murdering the trio of women. but the court won’t accept it.

DUSTIN JOHN HIGGS IS SCHEDULED TO BE EXECUTED ON JANUARY 15, 2021. HE IS GOING TO BE EXECUTED FOR A CRIME HE DID NOT COMMIT AT ALL. WE CAN’T LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN.

The more I use Zhongli, the more I'm convinced that he's actually really good??

On paper, I saw that the math proves that he's kinda underwhelming. But the more I use him, the more I realise that his shields are actually up for 90% of the fight. I don't even need a dedicated healer now cos he's so good at protecting.

He also fills a niche in my team... He fills in for Childe while he's on cool down. He spams pillars, shields and meteors while Childe can't attack.

His attack isn't that great, but his meteor spams so often that it makes up for that.

My team is under leveled for WL5... so the shields don't last that long but it isn't a problem too cos Childe/Benny replenishes the shields every time they attack... so the shields are always up.

I'm defeating bosses 10-20 Lvs higher than me cos Zhongli can protect Childe. I'm slowly becoming more and more convinced that he's strong >_<

^ I'm not good at team building, but I intend to build around Zhongli's shields now. I think these 2 sets will be good for Childe and Zhongli?

Anyway.. I'm not good at evading... even in Monster Hunter, I main the Gunlance cos I can't evade well... I depend on my shield a lot >_<

In my opinion, defence is good offence. I'm always in Teostra's face cos I know I can tank his super nova explosion >_<

I'm so conflicted...I trust math cos numbers can't be disputed...but at the same time my own play experience is telling me that Zhongli is actually good...

Not sure if I should trust my gut and go all out in building around his shields with Childe...

I have limited resources >_<

If you haven’t checked out the original author’s two other series Scum Villain or Heaven’s Official Blessing I’d check them out as well! (Both just started running in Sept and Nov respectively!)

Now for the genre rec, if you like the part where these weirdos can fly through the air and do weird ass crap with swords and stuff as well as beating the crap outta each other- I have some wuxia recs for you!

Return of Condor Heroes (2006)

The definitive work of the wuxia/xianxia genre- and I’d even dare say a big inspiration for most of MXTX’s works. You can see that she took a lot of inspiration for the characterisation of LWJ and WWX from the characters of the ice cool jade beauty with a poker face but deep emotions, Dragon Girl and orphaned/fostered/unwanted gremlin boy Yang Guo.

(the prequel to this- The Legend of Condor Heroes is pretty much proto-JFM and Mdm Yu’s (aka Guo Jing and Huang Rong) getting together story except they actually do love each other. It’s worth a watch if you’re a completionist and are interested in watching the complete condor trilogy, but as expected from a proto-JFM, the main char is as boring as a block of wood imo lmao. For the curious, the last part is Heavenly Sword and Dragon Slaying Sabre- lots of cool fights though the main char is kind of an emo baby lol)

It’s hard to explain what happens except 3 guys from very different backgrounds, somehow come together, decide to become sworn brothers and somehow stop a war from happening. There’s always something happening in the story, and plot twists are a plenty. Also features proto-JGS who is not nearly as terrible, though still a slimey creep.

For eng subs, turn on captions and auto translate the mandarin > english!

ALL TIME BEST C-DRAMA (imo) Nirvana in Fire / 琅琊榜

Features a tragic bromance, 4D mind games, beautiful costuming. There’s very little actual romance here, but lots of strategising, soulful gazing at your once-best friend as you try to will him into being less of a righteous dunderhead.

And if you like the mindgaming part (which imo, is one of the best parts of period drama when done right- do take a look at the the Advisor’s Alliance / 軍師聯盟 which tells Sima Yi’s rise to power- sorry can only find an english dub for that lmao)

If you still have an itch after all these- do also look into Hong Kong wuxia movies! They are considered the cream of the crop for the genre, and even movies made in the 80′s and 90′s are still highly rewatchable (Stephen Chow’s stuff in particular lol - here’s one of my fav scenes of his) though the main issue is finding English subs for them.

If however, you’re more into the animation rather than live action aspect:

If you like the cultural world building and the semi-fantasy aspects! Features a diverse cast of characters and it’s also the main inspiration behind my pick for Sizhui as a qilin haha...

I don’t study genocides war crimes and human rights for fun. I study it bc my people have been at the foot from the very first genocide of the 20th century and previous attempts to exterminate my entire race. The fact that no one is speaking up when another genocide is at the brink of occurring to the ethnic Armenians living in Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) is mind blowing. I have to say I’m not surprised by the lack of effort - Americans, especially, are the most self interested humans I’ve met. This isn’t about narrative, this is about rapid belligerent individualism. We can philosophize all day about it but at the end - people don’t give a shit about anyone but themselves. There is rarely any altruism left in this world. As Monte said, no ones gonna fight for us, we will have to fight on our own to survive. The alternative is not an option.
