uhhhh in case y’all were curious what i’ve been up to with my internet browsing habits, i just took a several month break off tumblr to lurk the caroline calloway snark subreddit, which was at first extremely fascinating but recently has been very boring. i made a puppet (her name is quarantina, plz follow her) in response to my trainwreck influencer fixation, and i also sewed approx 280 masks for a couple arts organizations in my city. ok back to quietly lurking tumblr lol love you all

Someone made this dessert for a staff party earlier this summer. When I read the label, the dish sounded unfamiliar, yet the first mushy too-sweet bite unleashed a flood of nostalgia. Y’all, I had forgotten about the Pittsburgh Strawberry-Pretzel Salad! A staple of the many wakes my parents dragged us to, honoring dead great-aunts and -uncles I didn’t know I knew (”We didn’t see anything wrong with bringing kids to funerals. I thought it was important for you guys to understand. Death is just a part of life.”–My dad in a recent conversation about genealogy.)
must make!
somebody brought one of these to a work potluck at my last jorb and while at first i was very skeptical, i ate it and it was incredible
I made a giant worm on string! (featuring regular worm for scale - and then my hand!) he’s big! 155cm of worm!
Normally I’m very good at suspension of disbelief but I cannot get over the sisters and nurses of Call the Midwife somehow knitting what is clearly a crocheted baby blanket.
tv shows like, never have a fiber arts consultant and it drives me up a fucking wall. here i made a tag about it
y’all who believe in astrology have any opinions about the fact i live with three geminis now?
I designed and made a pigeon jumper. My most recent resolved project was documenting my daily experiences through textiles. I see pigeons every day so I made a jumper about them.
While I was making this jumper, my friend @elodieunderglass told me about Kyoto Ohata’s pigeon shoes, which I distantly remember from tumblr. I like this tendency to relate to animals through representing them in a way that, ultimately, isn’t actually relevant to the animal. Pigeons like food, I brought no food, they would have no reason to be interested in me. But I still tried!
Do you have a pattern for this jumper? I showed it to my mom and she absolutely loves it.she knits day in and day out and recently adopted 2 baby pigeons.
Hello! I don’t have a straightforward pattern because I improvised a lot. That is how I work in the studio in my ~*fine art practise*~, but as a knitter, nothing fills me with more horror than the idea of wading through a poorly written and entirely untested pattern, so I shan’t inflict such a thing on your mother.
^^^ extremely important further information from Pear….. receive it gratefully…. ^^^
i love this explanation of process honestly maybe even a little more than i would have loved a pattern, and i also love pigeons and textiles so here we are, my friends
i just had the daughter of my elementary school teacher take a knitting class i was teaching about making hats with words and her project is a hat that says COMRADE GRITTY surrounded by hammers and sickles
lol, most of the posts that got tagged by the horrible tumblr algorithm for me are pictures of bruises and cuts! and then, it’s wedding pictures! some collages i made in high school! pictures of a cool plant! a braid i did for a friend! a couple pictures of me in shorts that i guess showed too much leg! hope it was worth it to break your stupid website that much more @staff
@with-boots yeah actually after i posted this i got them all successfully repealed, i just had to gripe about it lol
@mappingthemoon last night my blog had an alert at the top telling me to review my supposedly NSFW posts which is what started my aforementioned outrage, so, nope, they now put them all together for you at tumblr.com/blog/[your blog name]/review
like okay i kept this blog like a diary for years only to be rewarded with an algorithm determining various moments of my life were pornography and i guess that’s the reality we all live in in this the year 2k19

In her latest single, Grimes sings from the perspective of an evil computer who wants to enslave humanity. Her public image is so bad right now that nobody can tell if she’s being ironic or if she, a known evil computer, actually wants to enslave humanity.
Kanopy has added so many new movies! Including: Lady Bird, Moonlight, The Florida Project, First Reformed… They also have access to selected Criterion films and have an actual classic film selection. Tons and tons of movies by women. Also, they have access to sooo many documentaries from all over the world.
If you aren’t familiar with Kanopy, it is a movie database accessible through many libraries (unfortunately not all - but its audience seems to be growing. Ask your librarians about it). If you’re a resident of New York State, you can apply for the NYPL library card and gain access to Kanopy (that’s what I do). Many academic libraries have access to it as well.
denver library got it!
Booty shorts with two QR codes on the ass that lead to a PDF of The Communist Manifesto and a page where you can stream Scooby Doo
I couldn’t resist making these, but at least I have a 50% chance of resisting the bourgeoisie
Rebogging again because LOOK
GOOD
the most messed up thing about my elementary school though - we had a lot of asian immigrants in my school, like i think about 10% of my school district was asian immigrants, and teachers would literally rename children!! i had a couple friends in high school whose kindergarten and first grade teachers assigned them new names, and that was what we knew them as. one of my friends started going by his actual name again in high school, and another friend just casually mentioned to me she went by edna because her first grade teacher told her it was her name now.
