Most Erie food lovers can find old favorites among the long and growing list of restaurants that have closed their doors in recent years.
It’s a list that includes Marketplace Grill, Chuck & Ginny’s, Patrick’s, Under the Clock, Oscar’s Pub & Restaurant, Danny’s, Matthew’s Trattoria, Eli’s, Gino’s Bistro, Carmen’s, Pio’s, Arnone’s Italian Restaurant, Hector’s Cafe and both Valenti’s and Ricci’s restaurants in Meadville.

I was stunned by many of these above closings, but I suppose I shouldn’t have been.
More astonishing is how many people that I know from Erie and the surrounding areas who choose to dine at Olive Garden, Red Lobster, Applebees, or TGI Fridays for lunch or dinner instead of eating at a locally owned restaurant - which almost always have superior food and prices that are rarely more expensive than a corporate chain.
Couldn't agree more!
