This is a nice sign to look at. 10/10 for composition.

Yes, the aces are zeros. Deal with it.

I'm nearly done with the first draft-- I just have to figure out what the face cards should be for the swords

I think I should write a guidebook to go along with it.

I know nothing about tarot, so it'll just be giving the names of the symbols, giving explanations of what the symbols literally mean, and giving examples of symbolism-rich objects/substances they could apply to

Wait. I legitimately want this deck. Gimmie gimmie.

You had a Meta Quest for exercise, correct? Do you still like it?

I do! I tend to cycle through using it and doing other exercise. Gotta keep the ADHD weasels happy. But it is a good system when I do use it.

"OH MY GOD WHY ARE YOU SLEEPING ON-"

because I am tired. I am exhausted. I have cared and fretted and cried beyond what sane people should, and if I do not rest my heart, the compassion and empathy I have left will become small and calcified and never grow again. because in a world of infinite injustice, I cannot cry infinitely. the abyss can gaze forever, I cannot win a staring contest, so I must close my eyes. the horrors won't stop, so I need to be able to dream of peace for a little while.

I'm on submission with my newest attempt at traditional publishing right now and it's really driving home the loss of Twitter to the publishing community. Yeah, there was a lot of drama and crap there. But when I've been on submission before and I'd wake up to a new list of editors my agent had sent my manuscript to, I could pop on Twitter and look up 90% of them, find their wishlists, see what kind of books they were publishing, find interviews they'd done. It was all in one place and free and easy to search through. Some of that stuff is still out there, but it's scattered or behind paywalls.

Just. Fuck Musk. He took such a valuable resource away from so many people all to stroke his own damn ego.

A lot of sentiments I see online about "just standing up for yourself" fall apart when considering that a common consequence of "standing up for yourself" is losing a key part of your current support network. It's hard to tell someone to stop being transphobic to you when you carpool with them to work, and it'll get a lot more expensive without them. Can your budget tolerate that cost, or is it the expense that stretches you too far? It's hard to tell someone that they need to be more polite to you when they're the one who helps walk you through legalese. Can you find someone else to do it for you, or are you left floundering? It's hard to tell someone to stop being sexist to you when they're the one writing your reference letter. Do you have someone else who can be your reference, or are they the only one whose letter would be accepted?

In order to be able to stand up for yourself, you need to be able to bear the potential consequence of that person leaving. You need to either have redundancy in your network, or be able to pay for what they did for you. Safety is about more than if someone will hit you.

note from blogrunner: yes, we've definitely had a poll like this before, but enough time has passed and there's a lot more people following this blog now

My birth name is Amythest. Myth is just nestled in the middle there, so I plucked it out, polished it up, and promoted it from nickname status.

It had already been my nickname for nearly 20 years. @apocalycious pointed out that @seananmcguire (and lots of other people) were still gonna call me Spider no matter what, so I might as well just change my name to it because... that's my name.

I've been toying with "Kate" recently, because it's what my dad has always called me and I just like it more than "Katy." "Katy" just sounds...sharper? It's the strong E sound at the end, I think.

Don't think I'll ever actually change it since they're so close it doesn't really matter. But yeah, chosen name is just a Nickname that Got Promoted.

(for the purposes of this poll, there is no monkey's paw situation: the chore you pick stays the same level of difficulty/grossness/etc. as it normally is for you, and you only have to do it as often as you want to. the chores you don't pick are magically done for you exactly the way you'd want them to be, just with zero effort on your part.)
