@katlovedart

I don't come here often, but when I do, I'm a mess, more content coming ;) , she/her - they/them-ly/lycan, feel free to send asks

Types of brain fog:

  • Brain is primordial sludge & you are drowning in it
  • U are a ghost and nothing is real
  • Mental equivalent of attempting to stream some high-res video game when all you have is dial-up
  • The thing you want to articulate is *right there* but you're just scrabbling at it like a cat continually failing to catch the bird on the other side of the window
  • The Void
  • i am on mars. thoughts will take 8 business years to be processed

Look at that bubble blowing snake go

Rating: CUTE!

All's good here. I don't know what it is about ball pythons specifically, but they just looove blowing bubbles in water. Most of them just get a real kick out of it, and it's not harmful to them at all.

Just a happy, playing snake!

You are not immune to ads. Ads are not becoming ineffective due to oversaturation or savvy young people or whatever. Billions of dollars are poured into market research and analytics every year, corporations would know if ads were a waste of money way way before a tiktok comment section and stop spending money on them

By believing yourself to be "too smart" to be affected by advertising you're only making yourself far less mindful of and more susceptible to it. The ads you're exposed to poison your mind - be aware of that so you can combat it, and try to be exposed to as few as possible

No, see, this is exactly what I'm talking about. If advertising made people less likely to buy a product then marketing firms would 100% know about it long before you. Ads work on a subconscious level, and you're not so much smarter than the average rube that they actually backfire on you and only you

While you're walking around confident in your knowledge that ads don't affect you, you're missing all the ways that they are affecting you constantly underneath your conscious notice

You're not immune to propaganda. You're not immune to propaganda. You're not immune to propaganda

The fact that people are still reblogging this post like "I agree! All of this applies to everyone in the world, except for me though, because I'm the smartest and most specialest person who's ever lived" is infuriating

When I say you I mean you. There are no exceptions to this. I don't know how to make this any more explicit

Previously, parents were told SIDS could be prevented if they took proper precautions: laying babies on their backs, not letting them overheat and keeping all toys and blankets out of the crib were a few of the most important preventative steps. So, when SIDS still occurred, parents were left with immense guilt, wondering if they could have prevented their baby’s death.

Dr. Carmel Harrington, the lead researcher for the study, was one of these parents. Her son unexpectedly and suddenly died as an infant 29 years ago. (...) Harrington explained what she was told about the cause of her child’s death.

"Nobody could tell me. They just said it's a tragedy. But it was a tragedy that didn't sit well with my scientific brain.”

Since then, she’s worked to find the cause of SIDS, both for herself and for the medical community as a whole. She went on to explain why this discovery is so important for parents whose babies suffered from SIDS.

"These families can now live with the knowledge that this was not their fault," she said.

(...) As the cause is now known, researchers can turn their attention to a solution. In the next few years, those in the medical community who have studied SIDS will likely work on a screening test to identify babies who are at risk for SIDS and hopefully prevent it altogether.

masks and helmets that hides someone's face in such a way that they become the face themselves my beloved

these are all creatures to me

Angel of War, angular and strange, gleaming silver and gold, Angel of Wonder, pure and one-eyed, looking to stars new and old, Angel of Harvest, simple and hidden, bring nature's sweetness to all, Angel of Health, mysterious and fine, beacon when life starts to fall, Angel of the Deep, crooked and cage-like, guide us across the sea, Angel of Solace, protect us from evil, lead us to where we are free.

Boom!werehog but he's like a feral dog the group just adopted and is absolutely terrified of everything (which is expressed through aggression) and they have to gently coax him with food to accept literally any kind of help or affection without snarling and biting

It's based off a dream I had. The dream took place in Sonic Boom. Sonic and Shadow were werehog brothers, and Shadow was part of the crew. They had been in some kind of fight, Sonic thought they did well but Shadow was like, "Uhh, a diner was destroyed?" (Note* He was smirking about this, this is why he's smiling in the second panel) to which Sonic responded, "iT WAS COLLATERAL DAMAGE!"

It's one of those dreams you wake up disappointed from because you realize it wasn't real.

it's not much but it's honest work (pointing out that mentally ill people have a higher statistical chance of being the victims of violence than the perpetrators whenever someone pulls the mental health background check dogwhistle)

on this lovely trans day of visibility we were talking to some of our preschoolers about gender. one asked "why are you not a girl?" and I answered "because when I looked inside myself and said 'you are a girl' I did not feel happy, but when I said 'actually you are a person' I did feel happy"

then another student asked "why are you not a hot dog?" and that was a much harder question to answer

A girl stands alone in a field. The weight of the world is placed on her shoulders.

A farmer walks past. “please. help.” The girl says.

The farmer responds. “can’t you see I’m hauling this load of hay? How selfish must you be, asking me to set aside my own burden to help you”.

The farmer leaves.

A girl stands alone in a field. The weight of the world is placed on her shoulders.

A noblewoman walks past. “please. help.” The girl says.

The noblewoman responds. “Help you? You seem to be managing well on your own. How lazy must you be, asking for me to help a burden you can very well carry”.

The noblewoman leaves.

A girl stands alone in a field. The weight of the world is placed on her shoulders.

A knight walks past. “please. help.” The girl says.

The knight responds. “Whoever would I help you? Every man is given a burden to carry. How weak must you be, asking your burden be relieved”.

The knight leaves.

A girl stands alone in a field. Tears flow down her face. Her back is breaking. Her arms are so weak. She hasn’t felt her legs in days. The weight of the world is still on her shoulders. She lets it go. She is crushed.

News of the girl’s death reaches the capital.

“What a shame” said the farmer. “if only I could have helped”.

“What a shame” said the noblewoman. “if only I could have helped”.

“What a shame” said the knight. “if only I could have helped”.

A great memorial is erected in the capital, honoring the girl who gave so much.

“So selfless” said the farmer.

“So driven” said the noblewoman.

“So strong” said the knight.

“If I had met the girl” says the farmer, “I would’ve taken the weight from her. It would be easy for me to stow it in my cart”.

“If I had met the girl” says the noblewoman, “I would’ve taken the weight from her. I carry so little, it’s the least I could do”.

“If I had met the girl” says the knight, “I would’ve taken the weight from her. I am strong and noble, I could surely carry such a burden more readily than she”.

The girl is still dead.
