early discussion notes:

1: y'all 'USB stick' truthers are gonna have to update your worldviews for the age of USB-C, you realize

2:

calling these second-grade-reading-level terms 'fancy words' is a pretty hard self-own dude

The differences are that the jumpdrive/thumbdrive/USB dongle goblin specifically refer to USB flash drives.

No-fault divorce is actually very recent. That is, a divorce just because you wanted to get divorced and not because they were guilty of some provable transgression. California’s no-fault divorce law was 1966; the latest US state, it was 2010. When I was in Catholic school, we were taught to believe in and promote anti-no-fault-divorce positions. This is very recent history, and you cannot take even this for granted. Stop being “edgy” about feminism and its flaws. Every movement will have some flaws. But do you not think that this, and the risk it represents, is significant to women as a class of all backgrounds?

it’s literally as simple as “if you are against no-fault divorce, you believe that men should be able to own women like property”.

People on here and Twitter are turning the term “refugee” into some sort of joke - so I’m just going to kindly ask everyone to stop tossing the term refugee around like it’s not an extremely politically charged term

- sincerely, someone who’s family are literally refugees

all cops are bastards because all cops are just doing their jobs

“I’m just doing what I’m told. If I am ordered to remove gold fillings from refugees theeth then that’s what I’ll do”, says police officer Michael Hansen. Just thought I’d add this since not a lot of people outside of the nordic countries seem to have seen it. This is a danish police officer discussing a new danish law that says the police should seize the possesions and money of refugees to finance the integration.

I love this, because there’s obviously something very clever going on to analyse patterns of language, but it’s also profoundly ignorant.

[ID: A screenshot of a Grammarly correction, labelled “clarity: conciseness”. The original text reads “Every book, which wasn’t many…” This is crossed out with the suggestion “Everyn’t many book” and the note “Consider shortening this phrase.” /end id]

Story time: this reminds me of some kids in an English class I’m in. They were doing written work and the teacher and I were going around checking their work. They had to do like, “do/do not”, and one example was “prepare”. Something like “My father does not/doesn’t prepare dinner”. I look at this one kid’s paper and this galaxy-brained child had written “My father preparen’t dinner” and it took everything in me to not lose it laughing right there like. This child saw a pattern and ran with it and I respect that.

Intermittentlysmitten hid this in the tags and shouldn’t have.

literally who is doing it like gritty, icône de l'extrême gauche américaine?

A doctor saying "Good news! Your labs look great" is like if you were watching a cop show and the chief walked in like "Great news, everybody! The best news! The killer is still at large and we have no leads."
