they’re getting more aware of what it takes to look somewhat more likely to be a real person, but it’s still transparent they’re bots fishing for clickthrough. every single one i’ve blocked has a link for a blog description bragging about their top OF percentile. they only have two posts at most, and most are empty. they actually have been going to the trouble of making their header, avatar, and any posts they make be pictures of the same person for the first time i have ever noticed

honestly, if they didn’t all uniformly have a link in their desc that says it goes to an OF page, it would be very difficult to tell

Anyway, I’m going to take a moment to remind folks that we need to report porn bots as SPAM.

Especially with the return of the tit this year, the primary issue has never been the adult content: it’s that these accounts are fake spam. I’ve already been overjoyed and delighted to see SWers returning to Tumblr–real ones, not these mimic weirdos with fake links. Reporting the blog of a porn bot as adult only blurs the avatar and hides the account from searches, but the blog continues to exist and can still be reblogged from if bots are going through the notes on posts. Reporting as spam can fully get the account removed.

I don’t normally do this, it’s never really came to this before, but I’m afraid I’m in need of help this time. I’m a 19 yr old trans man, and my parents are in the process of divorcing. My father has recently begun to cut off my mom financially, and they aren’t yet in the process of settling alimony, so my mother is living off of an allowance of $100 per week from him, which goes by fast because of medicine, food and dog food. She has a dental appointment this Monday (November 29, 2021), and she cannot postpone it any further, as two of her teeth are already turning black, and she doesn’t want to get them removed. The medical bill is only $120, so every dollar counts! Even if I don’t have a commission sheet set up, I’ll also be willing to open commissions (just PM for details!). Hospitals are struggling for nurses right now because people are leaving the profession entirely or leaving for temporary travel contract positions that pay well. They have been treated poorly, underpaid for the work they do, and inadequately protected this year, and they’re done.

My brother in law said they’re advertising for a position in his normal unit, offering twice his salary. But they won’t offer him extra to stay after risking his life working in the COVID unit for months, so he’s out. It’s absolutely insulting, and so many industries are going to have a major reckoning coming up.

My father retired early because they refused to hire just one person to help with the work load. They had to hire 5 people to replace him.

This is a common occurrence amongst his retired coffee group.

One lady was a head nurse that ran two floor at her hospital. They wanted her to take on more work. She agreed to do so oy if they gave her a small raise and hired an assistant for her. They refused so she retired early. They had to replace her with 20 people.

During the Black Death, villages emptied, fields were left, and people migrated to find work that paid them better and offered a better way of life. Wages for lower-class workers rose drastically. In Oxfordshire; a plowman who had earned two shillings per week before the plague could command 10 shillings per week afterward. Pay rates for artisans increased, too. In Paris, wages for masons quadrupled between 1351 and 1355.

This isn't to say that the elites just let this happen, either. Laws were passed to limit wage increases, and threats were made, but the workers had economic bargaining power on their side. Labour was in such short supply that employers and landlords had to take what they could get. The people held out - and so can (and should!) YOU.

This was the start of peasant revolts, popular rebellions, and - ultimately, more labour protections, political representation for the lower classes, lower taxes, and an end to serfdom. People could afford to own their own land, the feudal system vanished, and eventually, the Renaissance would rise. In these unprecedented times, there is a precedent, and that precedent is that when workers know their worth, agitate for better and for more, when they hold out and unite, they force the elites to loosen the reigns, giving more power, autonomy, rights, and profits back into the hands of the workers, and with that freedom, society improves.

Know your worth. Know that you have bargaining power. Let's make this pandemic part of the precedent. <3

Without safe prophylactic measures beyond trying to minimize contact w ticks, this has driven people who have had lyme disease, have chronic effects from mass-disseminated lyme disease infection, or people who believe they have chronic lyme disease to go to quack doctors and undergo unsafe, unapproved medical treatment in an attempt to stop suffering.

I work at a daycare, and we are REQUIRED by LAW to have those kids vaccinated, but somehow some parents find ways around these requirements and end up giving these preventable diseases to everyone else. I was given the mumps by one of these kids whose parents either didn’t care enough to get the kid vaccinated or fell for that Jenny McCarthy bullshit. The mumps is a miserable illness and I am damn lucky that it was a fairly minor case. But minor or not it is still beyond painful to swallow and my entire right cheek swelled up to double it’s size. It was awful. I had to go to the ER on fucking Thanksgiving Day because some parents decided they knew better than every doctor practicing medicine who urges people to vaccinate their kids. VACCINATE. YOUR. KIDS.

Anti-vaxxers would rather have dead children than vaccinate them because they believe lies. That’s what it comes down to: dead children.

It’s McDonald’s, it’s not supposed to be a high paying job

People deserve to make enough to live on. That’s not up for debate. This idea that some jobs aren’t “supposed to” pay enough for people to get their needs met is bullshit. Nobody should be living in poverty.

Yes, but it’s McDonald’s. It’s not meant to be a job to support a family, it’s mainly for support for teens or side jobs.

No, it’s not. 

There is no such thing as a job “for teens” (and even if there was, they deserve a fair wage for their labor, too.) Nobody should get paid so little that they need “side jobs.” 

If your business model relies on paying people a wage that keeps them trapped in poverty, your business should not continue to exist. McDonald’s can afford to pay their workers a better wage, they’re choosing not to. 

Funny story- I am a manager at a Mc Donald’s. Do you know? We have a set limit of minors- teenagers- we can employ. It’s barely over a dozen. Most locations open at 6am… guess what, on week days minors cannot work before they are out of school, or before 730am if they are out of school (GED and the like) also 730am on weekends. Minors cannot work after 10pm on weekdays, and after Midnight on weekends. My location closes at 11pm Sunday to Thursday, and 1am on Friday and Saturday. Because of labor laws here, they may not have more than 20 hours a week, and cannot work more than 5 hours in a single day.

So no. This is absolutely not a job just for teens. We have a giant compactor that crushes and crushes our trash. If you’re not 18 you’re not allowed to operate it. Anything sharp? Are you 18? Can’t touch it. Being a manger? Are you out of high school and at least 18? Forget it.

And honestly, I wouldn’t make any of the kids at my job deal with our customers when they’re going feral. Do you know how bat shit y’all are?? I had a woman start crying because we ran out of the Mc Rib and caused a scene in my drive-thru for 10 minutes. I’ve had old men cussing me out because Corp decided to bump a senior coffee from .99 to 1.09. Though if you sit inside, which they all do for well over two hours every morning… refills are free.

We have a lady here who we call “Princess Diamond” because she’s so fucking entitled she gave us a bad review on the McVoice because we served a homeless man and he sat to close to her… which was across the entire goddamn lobby. Would you really want a teen trying to deal with this woman??

I sure as shit don’t. I don’t allow her to deal with most of my Crew, actually. I’m as nice as freaking sugar in your tea to her face but if she gets rude I start slamming her order down on the tray. And as my Crew knows, the sweeter my voice gets the more trouble your in. She doesn’t stay long on days were I start getting aggressive with her food.

Side tracked- but no. We have so many things that need to be done all day long that we can’t legally let a minor do. A sister location was just fined over $5,000.00 because of labor violations pertaining to minors.

Just pay us so we can live. Please. A lot of these teens are trying to move out and get into apartments. But if an apartment costs 800.00 in rent and that’s usually one of the two checks a month an adult gets. Maybe. That’s a struggle even for myself, and it’s just my roommate, our dumb cat, and me. No children. He has a worse paying job.

We just want to be able to live.

This goes for any minimum wage job. 

The minimum wage, when it was set in 1938 as the United States was coming out of the Depression, was intended to be the minimum you needed to be able to pay your bills and raise a family on a single income. Not this bullshit we have today. It’s as low as it is because it hasn’t kept up with inflation.

Like, not only is working in fast food one of the hardest fucking jobs because it’s hot, it’s dangerous, and it’s full of the worst customers, but it’s also disrespected constantly, and people don’t think you deserve to be able to pay your bills. 

Fuck that. 

Pay workers enough to live on with a single full time job. 

Any business that can’t? Shouldn’t exist.

My illness is straight up fatal. Not gonna beat around thatBush, anymore. I seem desperate for help because I AM desperate for help.

My nephrologist has seen enough improvement in my kidney function, lately, to believe someone my age (early 30s) might have a longer life WITH PROPER AND FREQUENT MEDICAL ATTENTION. Sadly, that just isn’t an option where I live.

Please, if you can help me with moving expenses (even just a couple of bucks) I would be grateful. I’m sinking fast in Mississippi and now my doctors are giving me too much hope to ignore. I wanna get out of this situation and I’m working my fatigued, brain-foggy ass off to make it out of here.

If I can undo the damage my heart failure caused to the rest of my body, I want to. I don’t want to spend another month KNOWING what I should be eating, what medicines I should be taking, what tests and treatments I should be getting… and receiving almost none of it because Mississippi lawmakers think people like me have somehow earned slow, painful deaths.

Thanks for reblogging & donating to help keep me alive. This has easily been the most difficult two years of my life even without violence and plague in the world outside my breaking body.

Asking for help getting winter boots and tires. I’ve relocated to a place with snow since this first post and these are the things I can never afford to replace but always seem to wear down.

I mostly do delivery as work & community aid. I can’t do either without my car & boots.

I still am waiting on transplant.
