Part 2 of Practical Female Costumes in Media

Continuing from part one, I compiled a list of Practical Female Costumes in media. I just didn't want to restrict myself to traditional superheroes, so I went all out on this one.

Or at least, as much as the 10-photo limit could allow me.

This suit she wore in So the Drama wasn't sexualized and enhanced her physical capabilities exponentially.

Agura (Battle Force 5)

I know a lot of Acceleracers fans hate Battle Force 5, but you have to admit, Agura was a good example on how to write a female character properly. She didn't wear pink or another light color like pale purple and blue, so that's another bonus. She didn't exist to be someone's love interest and was a compelling character in her own right.

Lioness from the incredibly slept on cartoon Alpha Teens On Machines also didn't wear pink. Like Agura she was also a good example of writing unique WOC (and she's also from Brazil, so rep for Afro-Brazilians) in that she's wasn't a love interest and had a good dynamic with the male characters without beating you over the head with "GIRL POWER!"

Karma Eiss (Acceleracers)

Karma Eiss from Acceleracers wasn't sexualized in any way and she didn't exist to be someone's love interest, save for a mutual attraction between her and Taro Kitano and even then that wasn't her entire character. Not once did the male drivers demean her for being a woman or downplay her (and Lani's) contributions. In short she's an actual fucking character and not the Token Chick stereotype. Also her racing suit was comfortable and flattering and not sexualized.

Gwen Tennyson (Ben 10)

Gwen is one of my favorite characters for many reasons, but one huge thing I liked was her Lucky Girl costume. I preferred the the version she wore in the OS though I did like her AF outfit because it reminded me of Earth Kitt's Catwoman. I did wish they kept the purple but the pink accents on black worked and she seriously worked that outfit. Practical, except for her OV costume which had a skirt for some reason.

Does anyone else have so many OTPs and you rotate reading fanfiction about one, then another, then another, then back to the first one, then on to the eighth one? Do you also have over 100 stories on your read later list that you almost never get to? Do you have over 100 tabs open to stories you swear you’ll get to? Do you get about 20 emails a day because of how many authors you’re subscribed to? I am FURIOUS and BAFFLED that major news outlets are not covering what’s going on in Iran right now and I don’t fucking have a twitter so I can’t make noise over there, even though apparently that’s the only social media platform people pay attention to????

Students at Sharif University of Technology in Tehran have been one group of many students and professors across the nation protesting, and NOW, the regime’s security forces have LOCKED THE STUDENTS IN THE UNIVERSITY AND ARE ARRESTING THEM IN MASSES AND SHOOTING AT THEM IF THEY TRY TO ESCAPE OUT THE GATES.

You have DOZENS of teenagers running for their lives in the dark while their parents and fellow citizens are protesting outside the gates chanting “free the students”. And NOW, the they’re sending more repression forces to the University!!

A BBC article says it’s unable to verify the events at the university in the same space it writes that VIDEO FOOTAGE on social media shows students RUNNING FROM SECURITY FORCES ON CAMPUS.

Share as much as you can about this on all of your social media platforms. Tag as many human rights activists and groups and news outlets you can think of to get the information out there. And if you have any friends or family in Tehran, let them know if they already don’t that people are mobilising to the university. Help the students!!
