i know everyone’s already giving their hot takes about the velma show lmfao but what makes me genuinely sad is how badly they treat the characters. like i watched a clip on twitter where velma disparages fred in court (after having falsely accused him of murder!) and she calls him a small-dicked privileged manchild who can’t even feed himself and like?
i don’t think mindy understands that all the characters in scooby doo are beloved. people don’t want to see daphne be a vapid “bitch” (which velma literally calls her that) or fred be misogynistic. we don’t want to see shaggy be some loser.
so like, who is this show for exactly? it’s obviously not for scooby fans because it’s too cynical about both the characters and the fanbase. it’s not for kids because it’s an adult show. it’s too stupid to appeal to adults. it’s a weird self-insert fantasy with scooby doo slapped onto it. mindy’s just playing the same loser character she always plays/writes to project on. daphne’s too bitchy, shaggy doesn’t have a single character trait similar to the og shaggy, fred’s too much of an asshole, velma’s judgemental and rude. like. WHO IS THIS FORRRRR.
a scooby doo series set in community college where the gang is in a criminology class and end up in a huge debate on the first day of class that leads to them starting a podcast talking about local urban legends, only to realize things aren’t quite adding up and they go to investigate for ~journalistic authenticity~ and end up solving a real-life crime disguised as supernatural occurrences. this happens every week and they’re frequently featured on the school newspaper. they only have twenty listeners

The Quebec government is moving ahead with a controversial part of its proposed language bill, which will require all government officials to communicate with new immigrants exclusively in French, six months after their arrival — with no exceptions for refugees and asylum seekers.
The article of Bill 96, which was introduced at the National Assembly last May, was recently approved by the legislative committee studying the bill, amid criticism from opposition Liberal and Québec Solidaire MNAs. The bill is expected to become law this spring but still faces detailed study in committee.
Some organizations, opposition members and even the union representing public servants tried to persuade the government to soften the rule, to no avail.

This is fucking awful. It can take years for adults to learn a new language!? Canada is hot garbage.
It can take take several weeks before immigrants are even able to attend french training classes, leaving them with potentially 4 months at moet to learn french.
The system is designed for non-francophone immigrants and refugees to fail and be expelled from Québec.
If you don’t already speak french, don’t go there, is the message.

Everyone mentions “but there are so many kids in foster care who need homes!” when someone talks about the connection between abortion bans and the adoption trade. Those adoptive parents do not want children with opinions, thoughts, traumas and experiences. They want infants. They do not want the effort of helping a child who has been in the system, they want an infant they can brainwash. This is why those freaky big Christian families often adopt lots of infants and toddlers but not older children. They see children as little pets instead of people with independent lives and personalities and the child being an infant when it comes into their care helps maintain that illusion.
Do not tell anti-abortion people to adopt. Do not. They do not deserve to ruin another child’s life. Not every home is healthy for a child. Not every family will be a family for that child.
