I decided to try something new today— a Javascript-based character generator instead of my usual drag and drop gifs!

Follow the link and it’ll give you a randomized fantasy genre OC, plus a link to generate a new character along with the sources of the scripts I used, seeing as I don’t actually know Javascript. You’ll get a name, title, race, pronoun, motivation, and more! Some are pretty standard fantasy tropes, and some are a bit more unusual (you could get an interdimensional naiad or a time-traveling half-orc, to name a couple). Note: the singular “they” is a pronoun option and if generated, the verbs will be conjugated wrong (e.g. “they wields” instead of “they wield.”). I’m aware of the issue but decided to leave “they” as an option for diversity’s sake.

All the names of characters and places that I used were made up off the top of my head, so any resemblances to existing names are coincidental. There are only 26 name options, so you might want to consider making up a new name if you actually want to include your generated character in a story! This also means that the location names are nonsense and can be substituted for locales in your existing setting if you have one.

I’m really excited that I figured out this method of generator because it allows for more options and details, plus I’ll be able to more easily update and add to it since it’s a webpage rather than a gifset. So if you have any feedback or suggestions, I may actually be able to add them in!
