Steven Universe Movie Spoilers!
I was inspired to draw a bunch of different outfits/versions of spinel
this one is kinda a “what if she stayed on earth with the crystal gems instead of leaving with the diamonds” alternative ending. (Or maybe when she comes back to earth after eventually getting sick of them who knows 😏) I kinda felt like living with the diamonds may not have been the healthiest choice for all of them even though it made the most sense in the narrative. I think on earth she would have learned a lot more about independence, individuality, self love, and accepting herself. (from pearl, amethyst, garnet, and Steven respectively)
this one is my idea for her next reformation, while she lives with the diamonds and starts to recover. The skirt version was actually my first attempt, after seeing some other artist’s interpretation of a new form, but when I finished drawing I immediately decided I didn’t like it and started over. I decided to give her some more jester-like features since that’s kind of the role she’s taken on, and I figured she would want to look a little more royal and fancy to fit in with the nobility of the palace.
this one is from a “what if pink had brought her to earth and she survived with the crystal gems” alternate universe. I imagine that she would have matured a lot during the war and lose some of her childishness and naivety, but by the time Steven is born she’s a little more mischievous, and his biggest playmate! I made her outfit a little more modern and human, since the crystal gems seemed to take on more human appearances over time in the series.
