A wolf and rabbit meet...
This is why it is so important to be critical and double check everything you generate using image generators and text-based AI.
If you showed this screenshot to someone who doesn’t play arknights do you think anyone could guess that this is the context:
Like oh yeah of course she was talking to her pet crabs she named after her favorite rappers and can communicate with in complex commands like Olimar to a Pikmin, how could anyone not get that?

It's unfortunate that "incel" is kinda watered down as an insult sometimes, reduced solely to it's like, basic meaning (IE. "you can't get laid") because when I call someone an incel I mean more than just that, it means I'm calling somebody an emotionally unbalanced misanthrope who adopted far-right politics out of sheer misogyny, someone who is pathologically obsessed with protecting their own fragile masculinity, with "probably sexually frustrated" as the least important part. Incelism is a particularly deranged far-right ideology with completely insane tenets, so when I call someone an incel it's more like "you hate women so much it broke your brain".
My friend forgot to secure the latch on his magic card briefcase and all his commander decks are now mixed together. Now he’s playing 1200 card pickup and has to reorganize everything.
An archivist found a long forgotten 8mm film reel in an old metal box, marked "Philippines 1942". Thinking it was lost WWII footage, he sent it in to be restored/digitized. When he got the footage back, he found puppies instead (via)
This is so freaking profound. Like, this was before the advent of the personal camera. Not just anyone owned a camera in these days. Cameras were expensive, and so was the film. When you were recording shit, it had to be stuff you were willing to shell out a pretty penny to have preserved. Someone so deeply and profoundly loved these dogs and found joy in them that they decided to preserve them for future generations to see, after these pups are long dead and gone. This camera operator wanted to preserve the joy these dogs brought them and to share it with others. How incredible is that?
“fanfiction,” as a concept, only exists because of intellectual property. at the end of the day, it’s just fiction. some of it is great, some of it sucks ass. sometimes, it can reveal something damning about the author—prejudices, biases, whether or not they think cats should be left indoors, how they feel about offshore tax evasion, whatever. that’s the nature of fiction. this is not news to anyone who’s ever opened a book
what’s truly unique about fanfiction is that it’s anonymous and free with a barrier to entry that ants wouldn’t notice climbing. also, it’s amateur by necessity; barring a few notable exceptions, nobody expects their gaudy slash fiction to win them an award or make them a million dollars. this crock pot of internet fuckery lends itself to two things—a monumental diversity of skill level and buck wild nasty behavior
fanfiction is neither god’s gift to all man kind nor an incurable blight. it’s just a thing. that exists. it’s neither defenseless nor indefensible. it can be harmful, helpful, or benign. more importantly, it’s not going anywhere, so i wish we’d stop arguing about whether or not it’s “legitimate” and talk about what’s actually happening with it instead

“the end goal of fiction is (of course) to collectively identify and consume only the good things. good stories make you a good person and bad stories make you a bad person” you guys literally sound like the 2nd grade teacher who told my mom not to let me read the golden compass
not to swing the bat 360°, but i’ve seen a lot of weird, condescending nonsense on the other side of this as well
look, the end goal of strong literacy skills isn’t to have perfect taste and be right all the time. i frequently enjoy things that have objective flaws. i frequently fail to enjoy things that most people would consider flawless. sometimes, i fall for propaganda. sometimes, something makes me uncomfortable, or confused, and i have to pause to figure out why. that’s life!
the more comfortable you are navigating the relationship between what a story wants to say, what it is saying, and how that affects you, the easier your life will be. you are free to criticize the things you love and celebrate the existence of the things you hate.
i say this with all the compassion of a person who went through years of therapy for OCD—your gut reactions do not define you, and you don’t have to worry about The Bad Media turning you evil
I mean, we knew, but it's nice to hear so succinctly
just to add to my notes in the tags - my Mom responded to this video and said she lucky she was raised by pretty loving tolerant parents.
And yeah my grandma was for the most part until she got sucked into the brainwashing of that fucker limbaugh by my uncle (same one that molested me).
And my Grandpa would beat the kids when they were little for making noise (looking back he probably had trauma from being raised super poor in the Ozarks and being in WWII in the navy) and my Mom ended up having to be a second mother to her eight surviving siblings (one died as a toddler) cause if they cried in the night and Grandma got up to go take care of them he would beat her and if she stayed in bed and they kept crying he would give them something to cry about. So my Mom as a child would have to get up and care for them. She has erased a lot of that and insists that he loved them but I know from other mentions of times by other siblings that he was an abusive jerk that my Grandmother should have left but couldn't because of the difficulty of divorce and the inability to make it on her own with all the kids.
Granted he mellowed slightly through the years and didn't kick my Mom out when she got pregnant out of wedlock and was dumped by the father (a piece of trash who only went out with her to get revenge on my Grandpa for being an asshole as his teacher). But she was the firstborn and his favorite. Which all the others resented her for to this day except for one aunt.
And all the surviving siblings (the molester and one aunt are dead) only one aunt is an actively liberal and tolerant person who is fighting to make change for the betterment of all. The rest are born again evangelicals (the males) or evil bitches (two aunts who are legally no long part of the family) or a mentally abused woman who never escaped her mentally abusive ex-cop husband and she is slowly dying from MS (and was surprised that her son who became a cop was actually finally kicked off the police force for excessive force and ignoring a call (three times in a row) to stop an abuser who was attacking his victim (who had a restraining order)).
So yeah Boomers were raised by traumatized people who passed that trauma on in new fucked up ways and now we are suffering the results.
So we need to keep fighting to regain all that those fuckers stole from us and to make a better future for the kids. Who now thankfully have better tools to recognize trauma and be able to help themselves heal and call out abuse when they see it.
