Hey! I'm the OP of the twitter thread. A friend of mine let me know that this took off here on tumblr and I just wanted to say a few words!
I highly encourage people to read the replies to the original twitter thread linked here.
There's so much additional community information in there I wasn't able to add to my thread, and as I struggle with multiple disabilities, instead of adding the information directly to my thread I instead encouraged people to read everyone's wonderful experiences, information and replies as there was so much!
I also wanted to address that this wasn't a direct response to that transphobic detransitioner at all. I actually didn't even know about it until way later. I just saw people talking about balding and knew it was my time to shine!
I've been active about raising awareness of balding in trans people even before I started balding myself. It's talked about far less in trans communities than it is in cis men. There's a lot of shame to it so trans people are less likely to discuss it or think about talking to medical professionals about possible treatments. Also considering how many of us get mistreated by medical professionals too.
I just try to raise awareness when I can to boost discussion, confidence and awareness of balding for trans people specifically so we know we're not alone 💖
I could talk about this all day but I won't so I just want to say a big thank you to the trans community on tumblr for joining in on the conversation and helping raise awareness as well! It makes my heart burst with emotion seeing trans people coming together to talk about things for awareness 🥺💖
