The most outwardly confusing aspect of conspiracising is, I think, the propensity to make conspiracies around things that really happen and are readily explained. However, I also think this is the aspect that explains the logic behind it most clearly.
There's no need to come up with conspiracies about 'elites exploiting children', as a thousand of them exist, when the real exploitation of children is so widely-known and well-documented. Not just in the most flashy cases, of trafficking rings and kidnappings, but in the myriad of ways that the exploitation of children benefits the existing social system and its power structures. Child labour, familial abuse, institutional abuse, miseducation, a thousand ways children are exploited and mistreated for the benefit of the capitalist class that are known by everyone, yet none of these generate conspiracies in the way made-up harvesting of brain chemicals do.
But that's the point, isn't it? Everyone knows about these evils. You've known about them as long as you can remember. Children in sweatshops is just a passive fact you absorbed as background noise. It's not just that real evil is boring, compared to these ones nobody's heard of before - it's that you're complicit, aren't you? If you've known about child exploitation your whole life, and just passively accepted it, then it can't really be a problem, or you'd be complicit, wouldn't you? So, wouldn't it be better if there were some worse evil, one which nobody knows about, and the only people that do know are the ones perpetrating it? The second you find out about this evil you'd be opposed to it wholeheartedly! You couldn't be complicit at all, you raised your voice about it the second you knew - the only ones complicit in this are an unambiguously evil group, which you're not a part of, all of which know they're complicit, because they're actively carrying out the evil. Everyone else either doesn't know, or they're rallying along with you.
Conspiratorial thinking is a denial of the complexities of reality when that reality comes into contradiction with binary moralism. It's a self-defence mechanism for the Christian soul, to refuse complex, social evils in favour of clear, in-group out-group ones. Ones where you're not the out-group.
it wasn't "some reason", it was 2D animators being unionized and 3D not being unionized. and the simple truth that capitalism kills art.
I remember when 2D faded out, the reason studios kept giving was "it's because 2D is a lot more expensive to produce". I was a child back then so I didn't think too much about it, assuming it was about the process itself, but as I grew up and learned more about art as an artist, and gained friends who were professional 3D artists themselves, I started to question it. Because 3D is very different from 2D, but it's definitely not easier or faster to make. Also, both European and Asian studios kept producing 2D animated movies
The answer was unions. The answer wasn't "this kind of art is cheaper because it's easier to make", it was "this kind of art is cheaper because these artists can't force us to pay them correctly"
tbh it seems like a good idea to tag goncharov posts as unreality for those who have experience with delusions, hallucinations, or being gaslit.
for any confused or possibly unsettled over the way tumblr is leaping on the goncharov concept: it’s a joke based on a past tumblr post about a fake martin scorsese movie title being printed on a pair of knockoff shoes. there is no real film, the movie doesn’t exist, & people’s posts are just having fun with the concept.
you’re not imagining things & you’re not having an episode! i hope more people tag it as unreality for people’s safety & comfort
The shooting in Colorado will very obviously sanitized in order for America to ignore the terrifying problem it has with fascist terrorism. It was at a gay club, during a drag performance, during an event organized by a group presently being targeted by libsoftiktok for "grooming" teenagers by facilitating them exploring drag performance. After news broke of the shooting, libsoftiktok was still attacking the group on twitter. The perpetrator, of course, was a 22 year old man known to law enforcement, and was previously in deep shit for calling in bomb threats. The same story we always hear. Same one we've heard for years.
This is a part of a greater rising tide. Young men are being radicalized into acts of stochastic terror with increasing frequency. Not only does law enforcement have no interest in protecting our communities, they are often in the same circles as these terrorists, and agree with their actions. Other mass shootings have already demonstrated that police will not even protect their own communities. Public officials refuse this is a systemic issue being aggravated by sitting politicians who peddle conspiracy and hatred. Social media sites have zero concern for the charlatans creating the echo chambers and feedback loops which drive these alienated young men into the deranged mindset to inflict this kind of pain.
It isn't hopeless, of course. There are courses of action we can take, even if we can't directly change the system above us. Now is the time to discuss this trend as loudly and openly as we can in order to get to the core of the issue. Don't shut up about this kind of thing. We should probably be organizing large, visible actions. Act up, as it were. In the mean time, we also need to keep ourselves safe, as we find ourselves an outlaw class. Talk to one another. Protect eachother. Be sure to be active in your local communities, and establish ties between communities. We need to find those meaningful alliances again. Learn to defend yourself and others in any way you can, and encourage those around you to do the same. Yet, there is no need to panic. Only need to prepare and strengthen ourselves for what may possibly happen around us. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
My anger was my own heart standing over the beaten-down part of me and saying "You may be too whipped to feel it completely right now, but this situation is not okay and how they are treating you is not okay, so I am going to watch your back until you can protect yourself again."
I've been told hanging on to my anger is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.
No. It's me realizing I had the right to stand up from the table and not drink the poison I was being told was the only truth. It's me reclaiming the power I ceded to others in a desperate attempt to survive.
Never. Again.

I wont say an exception is not possible, but billionaires do not donate money. They buy control over something that is important to them. If there are exceptions I have not seen them. Every time you see a billionaire being a philanthropist and actually giving a significant percent of their money look a bit deeper and you will find them actually buying control, not giving money away.
A prime example is Bill Gates. Well known as a philanthropist, primarily for his large scale donation to education. Except what actually happened is he essentially bought a sharing control in the US education system and proceeded to fucked it up terribly. I will believe his intentions were good, but frankly that doesn’t matter. He fucked it up because he is a billionaire and billionaires just can’t give up control. It is how they became billionaires in the first place, it is baked into their minds.
They just can’t accept that Notre Dame isn’t for sell. Because that is what “donations” mean to billionaires. They want to buy a controlling stake in something that they care about, and they have been doing so long they think that this is philanthropy. Because it makes sense to them that if they are going to invest *their* money that they should make sure it is done right. But they generally have no fucking idea what they are doing when it comes to these things.
Anyway if billionaires actually wanted to help the first thing they need to do is let go of their control and pay god damn taxes.
Yeah, that’s why you don’t excuse “donations” as a reason why the rich shouldn’t pay more in taxes. This is exactly why we need their help funding essential services through TAXES. So THEY stay out of what DOES NOT belong to them.
Here is the guardian article
Bear this in mind when you see people creaming their jeans over Twitter Jack’s supposed massive COVID “donation”.
The government actually admitted during their stimulus package announcement that giving money to poor people would stimulate the economy because poor people are guaranteed to spend it (unlike rich people who use tax cuts just to get richer) which means THEY ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND ECONOMICS, BUT CHOOSE TO IGNORE IT EVERY SINGLE FUCKING YEAR JUST TO APPEASE THEIR WEALTHY VOTER BASE WHO HATES THE IDEA OF NEWSTART RECIPIENTS LIVING ABOVE THE POVERTY LINE.
“For me, Detroit is a true activist of her own making. Her art speaks to her both in form as well as her clothing. What I really wanted was for her clothing to be her whole business card. She is definitely a strong female, very self-aware, not willing to sell out by any means necessary to obtain the level of success that Cassius was seeking. She’s her version of a made woman.” - Deirdre Govan, Sorry to Bother You’s costume designer
Govan drew from a range of sources—political movements of the past and present, ‘80s and ‘90s New York City, Afro-futurism and Afro-punk—to create the wardrobe for Sorry to Bother You, scouring vintage shops and working with artists in Oakland, California (where the movie takes place), to source the pieces featured onscreen.
Tessa Thompson also had a hand in crafting Detroit’s wardrobe, contributing her “The Future Is Female Ejaculation” T-shirt to the production, after she picked it up during a press trip in New York City. Govan was thrilled with Thompson’s find: “I was very keen on using [the shirt] because it was a statement. It was just like, wow, OK, this woman has something to say. She’s using every layer, every piece of clothing, to articulate her statement loud and clear.”

y’all ex-christians HAVE to get over the idea that religion in all its forms is inherently regressive, because you just come off anti-semitic and islamiphobic in the process.
when you think a higher power is ridiculous, and you express that through jokes or just straight up ridicule, you’re not ‘sticking it to the christians.’ they don’t care. you’re hurting us, as already persecuted people.
“the filthy poors aren’t treating us with the hushed awe and admiration we feel we’re entitled to”
This is huge! I’m so proud of them 😭
