Women are always known or praised for beauty. For example, your hair is so beautiful, you have a mesmerizing body, your smile is pretty, you fingers are so slim, and what not. However we women are never praised for our intelligence, confidence, observation, patience, organizing ability. We never hear these compliments from anyone.
We women want respect and such mesmerizing praises from everyone even from the one we love. The world has unrealistic expectations from women. I will not mention the list of expectations because this is known to everyone.
To all the men and boys out here, respect the girl or women you love. I know you do but still praise her when she succeeds and support her even at her worst because being physical is the not the true sign of love, staying beside her when she needs you the most, wishing her the best and being happy in her success is the true sign of love and that love stays forever. Just don't keep her as "show off parody".
Never ever be normal about fictional characters but please GOD be normal about the people who play them, I am begging you
very funny to me when people act like animal farm and 1984 are revolutionary anti government texts that the Powers That Be dont want you to read when they have literally been a part of every standard middle/highschool english lit cirriculum in the usa and beyond for decades. precisely because theyre such convenient primers to propagandize that Commies = Bad. the government is quite literally making kids read them
also, animal farm is not just anti-communist, but anti-revolution in general. the whole point of the story is if you overthrow your oppressor the new order will just become the same as the one it replaced! the story offers no suggestion of how the animals could have overthrown the farmer without the pigs becoming exactly like them, it just seems to begin and end with "never overthrown your oppressor because you'll end up right back where you started anyways." bleak and ugly story.
Not to be super English major about it, but Animal Farm was NOT an “anti-revolution” story. According to Orwell, it was inspired specifically by the Russian Revolution that led to the Stalinist regime. The story of animal farm is essentially what happened to the Russian people: they had a revolution against the tyrannical ruling class, only for the very people who had promised them freedom to turn into tyrants themselves.
The moral of the story is not “don’t have a revolution,” it’s that you should always be suspicious of those who promise you this utopian idea of freedom while still aiming to maintain power. The pigs never wanted to actually make everyone free, they just wanted to be the ones in charge. The novel details every small instance of the farm sliding further and further into fascism until it’s too late for anyone to do anything about it.
And 1984 doesn’t have much to do with communism at all. It’s about totalitarianism and fascism. There’s nothing pro-capitalist about the book. A totalitarian government like Big Brother’s could exist in either a capitalist or communist society. The point is the control they have over their people, and how important the flow of information is to that control.
George Orwell literally risked his life fighting fascists, so I think it’s pretty unfair to reduce his books to “anti-commie” propaganda. He was intensely critical of any state that maintained too much power over its people, and at the time, one of the worst examples of that was the recent communist revolution in Russia, which deposed a monarchy to install a dictator in its place.
orwell didn't pick up a gun to shoot fascists in spain alongside anarchist revolutionaries and write The book on it just so y'all can pretend the man favored inaction and the status quo.
also "the government" is not requiring you to read these books - your teacher is not "the government" they are a professional hired by your school who is assigning these texts to you in the hopes that you will LEARN something from them
for instance, all of the above information posted in response to your original misinformed post
ok kids repeat after me
vinegar and bleach makes chlorine gas, which is highly toxic
ammonia and bleach makes chloramine, which is highly toxic
rubbing alcohol and bleach makes chloroform, which is highly toxic
be careful about your cleaning products and dont get yourself injured or potentially killed ok
why it so dangerous to be clean
As someone who’s job is to handle chemicals like this, I need to state that this information is IMPORTANT. Plenty of people have accidentally injured or killed themselves at home because they didn’t know what kind of reaction certain substances have with one another. Play it safe and don’t mix chemicals.
Also don’t use bleach to clean up urine it’ll create chloramine bc of the ammonia in it and you can give yourself chemical pnemonia that way
Every time I see “helpful” posts telling people to mix these things while cleaning I cringe with my entire body.
reblogging in this time of heightened interest in disinfectants. please don’t get fancy
This seems like a “how-to for criminals” post masquerading as innocently helpful information. 🤨
And cancer. They very much also had skin cancer.
Also yes they did wear sunscreen. Just not in the way most people think of it today. But people in extremely sunny areas have been wearing light fabric but long sleeved and full pants, or smearing mud on their skin for millennia.
Yes, your ancestors had more ozone layer, and yes, your ancestors did have skin cancer, but ALSO they did wear "sunscreen" just not the kind in a bottle from Walmart.
ao3 is crazy because you'll read the most gut-wrenching 200k word slowburn that leaves you sobbing into your sweater at four in the morning and the author will be applejacksmonstercock
later you find out that applecock is like a) the nicest lady in the world, b) in her late fifties and c) is a well respected senior member of a career you didn't know existed like head mop taxonomist or chief piano refurbishment factor or secretary of racehorses and suddenly a few of the comments in the longest orgy scene are even funnier.
This too shall pass but like holy fuck

Maybe it was because our backrounds were so similar, but I felt as if he was a reflection of myself." (DMBJ vol.7, ch. 35)

Hayao Miyazaki on AI
EDIT: I took this from Bluesky without checking the full context (didn’t really think I needed to because it seemed like something Miyazaki would say. Still I should have) since then it has come to my attention that he was specifically talking about ableism here and not directly about AI.
I’m attaching the whole excerpt here:
i think people are making this an either/or situation when its an both/and situation.
this scenario was about procedurally generated graphics, which although not as bad as generative ai in terms of things like copyright theft or environmental impact shares with it the removal of the artist from the creative process (there is no animator, actor or director).
and the issue with this sort of art is that computers cannot have empathy. they are soulless. they will make inhuman and ableist art because they cannot make art -- they dont know how humans live and what is offensive or what is a biased data set.
and yeah, procedurally generating some extras that end up being like 2 pixels in a screen might be the only way of doing a thing because the town doesnt have 10k extras to hire. and for that level of usage one can justify it....
but we have seen how cgi in general is used to cut through labor and union regulations. to cheapen art. and this specifically seeks to remove the humanity from art. whether it is battle scenes where even the main cast isn't even acting and lose all their humanity to this, its the net effect of removing humanity from art.
and that is what miyazaki is saying -- these computer techniques that remove the human decision and human empathy from the equation will generate unfeeling and ableist outcomes.
because computers cannot make decisions and computers shouldn't replace the decision-making of the animator that is able to inject empathy into what they create.
like you think of the labor it took to animate this scene
every person in this scene is one that the animator considered and decided what they would do. how a family with babies might protect them, how the old men and women might struggle, how the person with a heavy load might be angry or desperate. and that is what you lose when you remove humanity from the creative process.
