AO3 is back up and running again. our brave and tireless soldiers, the AO3 volunteers, went to war against the DDoS attacks and have returned home with a glorious victory. we’re wounded and traumatized, but we survived and we won.

very grateful to the ao3 volunteers and staff who do so much work to maintain an online space where people can post and archive their creative fiction work without fear. i have absolutely no interest in partaking in the discourse icebergs i've seen floating by my dashboard, and i'm certain that the involved volunteers don't, either. now is a good time to appreciate the people who care so much about the site and care about keeping our creative work safe. they are presumably under a lot of stress right now and are doing the best they can. be patient and if you Must message them via social media, please be encouraging rather than demanding/irate/upset/hand-wringing/etc. the volunteers do tend to be pretty good about keeping people updated during outages and this sucks way more for them than for anyone who's just trying to read/upload fic rn, so. Be So Fucking Nice To Them . Please . For The Love Of God
Ao3 down to a DDOS yall should start stop refreshing the site it contributes to the attack, it gets overwhelmed-- just wait until the official twitter account gives the green light
I am begging everyone on tumblr reading this right now. PLEASE wait a few hours before refreshing your tabs. Ao3 was not down because of maintenence, but a ddos attack and right now the last thing they need is thousands of people refreshing all their tabs.
As a fic author who rarely gets notes, commenting and sending kudos can wait. Reading can wait. Please, for the next few hours, just do something else until we are certain ao3 is no longer under attack.

Because every year Eurovision gives me a bunch of artists I usually wouldn't find myself and they fill my soul for the rest of my life. Like how will I ever find Kaarija if there wasn't Eurovision? How would I know about two lovely lesbian Edgar Allan Poe stans? How would I fall in love with witchy cult from Czechia? Obviously I know about Let 3 because I'm from Croatia but how would you, citizens of the world find your communist grandpas in drag if not on Eurovision?
So I just literally don't care generic pop song won, there are artists who won my heart this week.
okay i know everyone is mad right now and i am too, but remember that the most productive things to do now are to
a) support käärijä. listen to cha cha cha, check out his other songs, etc. if he’s really your winner? SUPPORT HIM instead of tearing other artists down, no matter how tempting it may be
b) support your other faves that got fucked over by the juries/televote
and c) advocate to ABOLISH THE FUCKING JURIES in next year’s grand final, just like the semi finals this year. democratise this shit!!
