I still can't fucking get over how cetaceans adapted to spend their entire lives in the water and just never bothered to redevelop water-breathing. there's motherfuckers who spend an hour or more diving and the evolutionary solution is just "breathe a lot on the surface and then lower your heart rate to a near-hibernation level while actively cruising the seafloor for stuff to eat". totally insane solution to one of the oldest solved problems in biology

"gay subtext" ma'am that's not subtext that's written in all caps, underlined, and it looks like a spinning wordart in a powerpoint presentation

One interesting thing about the movie…

In both comic and movie, Nimona’s very first origin is left ambiguous. We don’t know how she came into this world.

But in the comic, it is heavily implied she was a little girl before she started shapeshifting into other animals. That doesn’t go unquestioned; Nimona’s parents insist this is a monster that took the place of their “real” child, but to Nimona, a little girl is the first thing she can ever remember being.

Not so in the movie. In the movie, Nimona clearly shapeshifts into a little girl when she meets Gloreth. It isn’t the first shape she had, it was a shape she chose.

And either way, in the end, it doesn’t matter. Who is Nimona? Is she a little girl? Has she always been a little girl? Who cares? She’s Nimona.

The ancient scroll taken out of context? It’s application to a time period so far off it is to be unrelated? The use of ancient words to discourage progress and maintain an oppressive regime? The avoidance of accountability via the head of everything? The fact that they would literally kill half their civilian population if it means destroying that which they find abominable? The fact that the thing that is so frightful is that which cannot be categorized or controlled, and their hatred proves it was never about protecting the people? Impeccable.

okay i love this child's tale of antifascism where a lil gal gets to turn into a creepy beast the size of an apartment complex

the main diffrence between the nimona comic and the nimona movie that i saw was that the nimona comic is based around a corupted system where everyone has their part to play and there is no happy ending where as the nimona movie is about how breaking the cycle is 100% possible and is the only way to get a happy ending
