Line 3 update:

The line is now over 60 percent completed. If completed, we will have absolutely zero chance at fighting the climate crisis. It will be 100% inevitable, as it is not a matter of IF this pipeline will spill, but WHEN. There have been multiple frack outs in which Enbridge claims that the chemicals that were spilled were harmless, when in reality, they were toxic and resulted in the deaths of many animals.

Police are brutalizing water Protectors. Many water Protectors have been unlawfully arrested and when questioned about the reasoning for arresting these protesters, officers gave no clear answer. This directly goes against the Miranda Rights, in which it states that every person has the right to know why they are being arrested.

More and more police are being sent to camps set up by and for protesters. The more police that are sent, the more people get hurt. Dozens of indigenous women have gone missing, kidnapped by the police.

If you haven't already, I need you to go to stopline3.org and read about Line 3, then sign the petition. Get in contact with your reps. Tell everyone you know about this and ask your favorite creators to speak about this. If you are able, consider going to the front lines to help.

CPD just killed a fifteen year old child.

a fifteen year old black girl was shot four times in the chest by columbus police in columbus, ohio.

as derek chauvin was found guilty, a black child lost her life to police.

we still don’t know her name, but we’ll scream it the minute we do.

“well that can’t be worse”

except it is.

except this child got jumped by the other girls present. she was afraid for her life enough to grab a knife and call the cops herself.

let me repeat that.

the black child that they killed was so afraid she called the cops herself.

they killed the very person who asked for their help.

and before you flip over the knife, they didn’t even ask her to disarm. they got out and immediately opened fire on her and shot her four times with deadly intent.

did y’all think i was kidding.

i’m such a small blog but i’m begging y’all to spread this story. i can’t speak directly to this- no matter how hurt and angry and thrown by all of this i am, my voice isn’t the one that matters. i recognize that. but i’m still begging for this to not be overlooked. say her name, remember her- remember that this fight never ended, and keep fighting it.

derek chauvin being found guilty is a victory, but we can’t let that blind us to the fact that this has kept happening and never actually stopped. even if the protests went quiet, that doesn’t mean things changed. we have to hold them accountable and we have to remember those who have died and will continue to die beneath the shadow of everything else that’s happened this year.

Its even worse than that. I’m living through it. Not only are schools closing, hospitals are collapsing. Only around 9% of the island has electricity and it comes and goes at times.

People are dying in hospitals because of lack of diesel for the generators, a lot of the water is now infected, there are disease outbreaks and scareceness of food. I am safe, but many are not.

Some have water, others don’t. We need help. Sending money would be helpful but what would help even more would be sending water filters, filtering water bottles, food, medicine, if somehow possible diesel.

All of you reblogging this news helps, but what we need is physical help. If you can’t, then spread the word, but God if you can send supplies… Please… PLEASE do. We are dying. Help us, help us save ourselves. Help us save our people. Help us save out ISLAND.

If you’re not in a position to ship or transport useful items to the island (which is sure as heck the case for me in New Zealand) then the best thing you can do is give money to a reputable relief organisation operating in the area.
