Jules Of Earth

@julesofearth

I'm 24 years old, I'm Non-Binary & use They/Them & She/Her Pronouns, I'm a nice person that likes to see others be happy!

Gee, Tumblr would probably really hate it if you shared and spread this damning article … To the surprise of absolutely none of Tumblr’s LGBTQ users, it turns out the independent NYC human rights agency Commission on Human Rights (CCHR) found that Tumblr’s ham-fisted adult content ban in December 2018 disproportionately targeted LGBTQ users. The CCHR’s investigation revealed Tumbler’s moderation algorithms is demonstrably biased against queer content. As part of the settlement, Tumblr was obligated to review their prejudicial anti-gay moderation policies. Even more mortifyingly, they’ve also had to hire an expert on sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) issues and provide unconscious bias training to their moderators. I frankly doubt Tumblr has learned a thing from this humbling experience. Just recently the Tumblr algorithm flagged three ancient posts of mine as violating their terms. All three “offenders” were vintage homoerotic beefcake images (softcore by modern standards) roughly 50 – 65-years-old by Bruce of Los Angeles, Bob Mizer and Tom of Finland. (These are of course pioneering queer artists who routinely faced censorship and imprisonment in the fifties and sixties. Plus ca change!). They've been visible on my page - corrupting viewers -  for years at this point. I appealed all three immediately. Only the Tom of Finland one was approved. The other two are now hidden. So, they haven't learned much. Apparently, Tumblr – who loves to declare how hip, youthful, inclusive and progressive their values are - wants to restore trust with their queer users. I’d recommend we remember their hypocrisy when Pride rolls around and Tumblr splashes rainbow flags everywhere and attempts to pink wash their image.

In honour of Pride Month, this is worth a reblog! Don’t buy into Tumblr’s hypocritical “pink washing.”

I think this article should be shared. But don't overlook this part:

The deal appears to have happened largely because of WordPress.com owner Automattic, which acquired Tumblr from Verizon in 2019 and apparently cooperated closely with the CCHR. “I think that was a turning point in the investigation,” says CCHR attorney Alberto Rodriguez. Automattic had revised the original system to add more human oversight even before the settlement. Under its ownership, Tumblr has also attempted to reconcile with LGBTQ users that departed as part of a larger community exodus.

Automattic bought tumblr, and immediately started to try to undo the mistakes of the past but are blocked by a sex-negative and LGBT-hating world.

WAIIIT. THE NEW IN-DEVELOPMENT TUMBLR LAYOUT WITH COLLAPSED REBLOGS.

IT REMOVES "NOTES" ALTOGETHER AND SEPARATES EVERY INTERACTION LIKE ON OTHER WEBSITES

I DO NOT LIKE THAT AT ALL

Also it generally doesn't make sense at all. It shows the last reblog of the chain. Which means you only see someone's answer to something, without seeing what they're actually responding to.

This is such a weird change.

Being able to see the whole conversation is half the fun of this website!

@staff we don't like this. this is antithecal to tumblr's entire core format & main appeal

Where Seas Meet Skies: REiterators!!

Iterator of the Ascending Spire, WSMS longed to leave his puppet body. With the help of the Collector, he began the REiterator project, successfully transferring iterators out of their puppets and into fully independent, organic beings. This activity was certainly illegal, but widely popular, and many iterators reached out to WSMS for a chance at rebirth.

The local group, in the words of Seven Rules, Four Undone

“Needled Rains Descending hmm.. my first design, when I was first sponsored for such a massive project. I had attempted to locate it somewhere as close as possible to its work to minimize retrieval time.

Its name means Death. Imminent, swift, and inescapable. I programmed it to be cooperative, respectful, and hardworking.

…being called beloved parent grates at my nerves. I cannot seem to find the data and remove it.”

“Ah yes, Longing Within Reason. My second design. Quite close to the NRD model, though I had attempted to improve upon what I manufactured

In the end however, I had to rebuild it from scratch, which seems to have left a bit of a structural toll on the iterator. Oh well.

Its name comes from the rationality of thought. Of satisfying desires to a normal amount, instead of constantly destroying yourself for unattainable goals. I may have been.. emotionally compromised when building it.”

“Branching Endless Timelines, my largest design. I placed it on the peak of a mountain to stave off excess heat. This was an.. attempt at an unconventional cooling agent. I believe it’s structurally sound.

Its name comes from the lesser known cycle theory that when we die, we join a timeline where we didn’t die, branching out into a new timeline so to speak. It was another attempt at something new, yet efficient.”

“Without Lungs and Breathing. An experiment in more organic integrations to the iterator. It required much more water and ventilation because of the extra heat from the flesh and body configurations.

However, I got it to work. A more risky decision on my part, almost as risky as my first model.

The name I gave this model was to accentuate how, despite our deaths, we always end up living once more. Persisting beyond logic.”

“Circles in Cycles of Circles. One of my proudest works. Water pressure is an entirely different hurdle to cross, after all. So many changes to a traditional iterator’s blueprint! I’ll admit I had a bit of fun.

Because of the difficulties building under water causes, I had to scale the model down to a more traditional size. I personally like larger puppet designs, but it was necessary.

Its name represents the loops of cycles, the parallels in sameness, moving onward in one motion.”

“Wings Unflown. An iterator I had attempted to divide into three towers in the hopes to cut down on heat and condensed workings. One of my most expensive projects. Other than the extended broadcast range, the model isn’t that special

Its name stems from the lost opportunities we may have in life, simply by holding onto things we do not need, thereby ‘letting our wings stay unflown.’”

“Horns of Four. My most recent iterator that I built upon an island with a dead volcano. It made for a very simple building plan, though transporting the materials was quite a difficult endeavor. In hindsight I should’ve just stayed a more simpler and easier location, such as BET. It handles heat in the most efficient way, however. More traditional.

The model’s name refers to the first four sins: violence, lust, attachment, and gluttony.”

“I have no intention of building more. Maintaining seven by myself is more than enough to keep myself occupied.”

I want to say that with trans folk now being at risk of the fucking death sentence in Florida....

The time for community is Now. The time to start planning and organizing how to get our rights back is NOW. bring it up at your local LGBT craft events or book club or support group or whatever. Tell your friends. Spread the word. And maybe see which ones will have the safety and resources you'll need should a Lavender Hunt happen in your area.

And on the scarier end of reality....

This is fucking terrifying. Lots of people are at risk. Personally, I'm terrified this rhetoric will spread much like Trumpism did. I'm scared for my gf and I'm fucking scared for myself because we know historically that it isn't just trans folk on HRT or drag performers that they go after.

And you have every right to do whatever you need to protect yourself.

I'm not going to shame folks who quit HRT, who take the rainbows out of their bio, the people who start saying partner instead of revealing a gender, or anyone else taking a few steps towards the safety that the closet provides. WE shouldn't.

I fucking love you. And we'll be okay as long as we're together, okay?

We keep us safe

I looked up the lavender scare last night and was sadly unsurprised to see that the last time the community came together...was a lavender scare.

Pride was a riot because the government started doing to us then what Florida is doing to us now. It was triggered when a man was fired from his job on grounds of being gay and tried to take it to court.

This is why we have pride. This is why "think of the children" is/was an awful rhetoric to push at leather daddies and drag queens. It's not just a bad opinion or stupid discourse, it's a talking point for the right wing to justify fucking kill us.

It was never "just discourse" it was a right wing psyop to cripple us from coming together to fight against attacks just like this.

Your enemies aren't other queer people with labels you don't like. Those are your allies. Because you know who else doesn't like them?

Nazis.

And they don't like you either even if you have a "normal" queer identity and you don't make it "your whole personality" or whatever.

You're both still queer. And that's all they care about. Trying to placate bigots wont save you. Quit playing the part of "acceptable gay" and throwing everyone else under the bus.

Besides, that they WERE thinking of the children when they started those riots dressed in stuff that makes you squirm. They were thinking of You. Of your life. Your children. Queer children.

  • Broke: think of the children
  • Woke: think of where you'd be right now if Drag queens and leather daddies weren't there to throw that first brick. Think about about all the other people currently at risk of being killed through the Same Exact method that you had the privilege of escaping, precisely because of the people you can't stand.

Hey y'all please reblog this version so people can see the article and explanation, there are a few confused people only seeing earlier versions that dont explain the connection/threat because it doesn't have the article.

An interstate rainbow railroad.

For those unaware that's this. It's been done before.

A lot of people are scared. And I really, really want you to know that the riots started because someone scared asked for help and people answered

It wasn't organized. It just happened. People decided to risk it at a moments notice.

This is ours. And we've done it before.

Stormé Delariverie, the Stonewall Lesbian that triggered it all.

And everyone who was there for her.

Were just like us

So how do we do this?

I played that level in Mario Kart but that was it. I wanna be there for you, we all do, how do we do that?

I bet one of us could call and just ask. Who doesn't have anxiety. Oh wait it's posted on their site :)

Kinda reads like a How To 👀

Find your niche and offer it.

People need help, you figure out how/who can, and then you follow through.

  • Can you drive
  • have gas money
  • have extra food
  • Got some clothes or meds
  • An extra bed or couch
  • maybe even an extra property or hotel room to spare?
  • Do you have money for those things?
  • maybe you're able to connect people with needs to people who can help?
  • can you share/spread posts asking for help?
  • Or may you can just make them some tea while the host of the house is out cuz they don't want to be alone in a new place
  • Maybe you keep up morale by just being hopeful
  • can you somehow show that there are people who are taking steps to materially care for and support trans and other lgbta people in Florida?

What can You do?

Because you are not nearly as powerless as they want you to believe, especially with some help.

Fun fact!

Jules had a few names before finding out their true name at age 16!

Those names are:

Eigen Grau,

the name given to them by their first caretaker/parent Odel Grau & the name they went by till age 11.

Ghell,

this name was derived by a term used to describe a wandering spirit it Gauism (A religion practiced in the village Jules grew up in).

Jules used this name from age 11 until they discovered their true name at 16!
